There is info all over about this. Look around and all your questions will be answered. People don't like spoon feeding those who won't help themselves.

  Ditto, the search function itself may not work well always, but you can invest some time searching through the different sections and find some info, then bump this if you didn't find what you needed!

ok yeah i've been looking for a while i've seen the chevy truck rotors with the gm metric calipers but that kit is like  5 bills and then you have to run a drive line brake thats another 2 bills ive seen also the four piston toyota caliper with non vented toy rotors and then you dont get an e brake, so what im really trying to ask if any one has done it were the e brake is built into the calipers.

Sorry the natives are a little uptight for some reason, hope you can for give them for being asses.

They should remmember they were once new here too.

The search function does not work so good, but there is info here about swapping out the IFS calipers, I think 86-88 is the year range and the rotors are from a Land Cruiser not sure on the model or year.

This is all bolt up, no brackets needed. You will need to change the master to a bigger master too.

As far as the rear, there is a couple ways to go. I would think you should be able to use a newer Tacoma caliper and rotor, but don't quote me on that. I used an Isuzu 88-89 rear caliper and rotor on mine.

I have templates for brackets if you are interested.

You will need banjo style brake lines to fit the calipers too and there is some machining needed to the axle to clear the rotor.

I have also not hooked up the E brake cables yet and have no advise on that although it can be done.

I went another route.  I purchased the brackets from Sky Manufacturing.  The calipers are out of an early 80's Monte Carlo.  I just can't remember what the rotors are out of.  I found all of this information through Pirate, so you might check there.

I lurked for a good year learning all I could before I even thought about posting any questions. Mostly because the answers to all my questions had already been answered!

That being said I will say that piecing together your own set up and not buying a complete kit will save you a lot of money. Go with the monte carlo calipers and the early IFS chevy 1500 rotors with the centers machined out larger. E-brakes are not worth the added cost.

I can scan them to a pdf file and you can just trace them out on a piece of 3/8" plate.

E-brake is definately useful.
A line lock can make a good temp e-brake for on the trail but don't trust it to hold your truck in place over night.

Here is a pdf copy of the bracket.

Make sure you check your print settings, make sure "Shrink oversize pages to paper size" is not checked.

Then use a ruler to check the scale.

Cut out the pattern inside the line and trace to a 3/8" plate.

Which calipers does this template fit?  Toy or GM?

i went with the larger brak calipers and vented rotors on the front but the rear i just used a 86' + axle...IMO disc in the rear are not needed unless your running fourties.

Discs in the rear may not be needed unless you run in mud and like having no brakes and changing shoes after every weekend.

X2

Much easier to clean out and I just don't like drum brakes, they are a pain to work on.

x3  + much easier to replace broken axle on the trail.
