I just bought a rebuild kit from this guy http://web.archive.org/web/20050322011020/http://128.83.80.200/taco/box.html

Cost me 53$ shipped to my door and i live in california. I had a leaky steering box so when i drilled and tapped it for hydro assist i rebuilt it while it was apart. It seemed hard at first but after i went through it and got it all back together its working like new and i would do it again now that i know how, i could probley do it pretty quick now. You could get a box from a junk yard for 60$ or so and buy the rebuild kit and save a lot of money.

Thanks alot guys for all your posts, information and links.

As for the noob flamming I'm sorry if I came across as an ass hole, some times i let my daily life get to me a little more than i should.  What I wrote was inappropriate and unfair for dirtchicken and this board. You guys are right we are all newbies at one time and myself am, by far, not a professorial at this sport.  All opinions have a meaning and might help someone out in making a decision about a product or idea on their rig.

So thanks again for the opinions everybody

i would buy a ifs box but i drive a jeep, im thinking of putting my jeep in a contest but if dirtchicken will be there then count me out... anyways buy a new one (rebuilt) because the junkyard ones will probably be rusted out or something so youll end up buying the good one in the end.

you can take your chance with a junkyard box and if it is bad you can always rebuilt it

I ran leaking steering boxes for years and the worst part was having to add ATF all the time. and that puddle always on the ground where I parked.  :-\  Bought the rebuilt from Marlin and now I spend so much less time under the hood :rofl2:
It was a good deal.
