eightyfive's eightyfive
« on: Jan 29, 2007, 11:26:31 PM »
it's funny, i've been on this board for a pretty LONG time now and i've only NOW discovered that there is a PROJECT thread! so, heres my isssh.

this is when i bought it, well a little after i bought it( it didn't have those bald 33s) it had bald 31's :gap:

then i gave her some new shoes and a little lift.

the paint started to spread like rust...it took me about a year to finally paint the whole truck, and it's still not finished.

the can back was a GREAT top but the visability on it was poor...the windows are way too small.  i have LOTS of ideas for my custom top, one being a top i've seen on pirate. i will post pictures once the weekend comes around.

the tires are 33x1250 on 15x10 rims.  they are firestone destination M/T and i love them.  they do good for what i do, light snow, trails and such.  i don't mess with rocks much but i might in the future.  they wear great on the road...

I have 2 spare 4runner tops and one will look like this someday...

and the other will be a bikini hard top, just like this one...

i bought both tops together for $25
if i come across another one for cheap, i'll do this to it...

i know i know, too many tops just for one truck. well, i'll be able to switch tops according to seasons and weather.

thanks, i painted my truck with a roller and brush. i don't really want to chop it up, it's rust free. at most i will pound in the front fender/firewall to get clearence for 35's in the future.

the roller and brush method was awesome. im sure i could get a show room shine if i wanted to.  i only laid down 2 coats of the stuff to cover the outside for a cleaner look then olive drab.  i get stares everywhere i go now and everyohne wants to site in the back...haha i find that funny.  anyway, i will be selling the truck soon and i hope it ends up in a nice home and that person can finish the paint cuz i am giving all my parts and supplies to the buyer.  i really love my truck and hope that it turns out the clean...

if you want to check out the brush and roller method you should check out this guy at the TTORA forum...he used to have this taco that was olive drab with the army star and he rollered it black...it is freakin clean.  his truck was why i decided to go roller white.....i think his name was general or something...or was it brian? i dunno, go search.
