rock'n the bandaid like a nerd. it was a little cut but it was deep and bleed like a stuck pig. only for a few min though. i left a nice little blood trail to the bathroom. good times.

today was a good day.
got some stuff done. the front is almost done. maybe?
we start the rear Tuesday.
half the day was spent doin the ps box mount. but it turned out nice.
toward the end of the day we ran into a problem though.
we have a few ideas to fix it.

I always suggest to tack the front spring hanger on and put some weight on the frontend.  I think I ended up cutting and moving mine spring hanger 3 times before I was OK with the position.

yeah leasson learned. the hanger is welded on there so gnarly. but as i think of it iam more sure allpro sent me the wrong springs, cause when i set the 2 springs side by side for the pic i put up earlyier the stock springs were longer than the supposed long travel springs. i remember telling my self "oh its probably cause of the arch"
silly me :hammerhead:

they let you weld and stuff on your base...i've only been to the hobby shop on base here 2 times, they barely had tool boxes to use...luckily i was only changing tires there. this shop sucks...nice looking build havik.

MY BUILD UP THREAD

i just measured from body mount bolt to front spring hanger bolt. the bolt is forward .75"
iam still going to press on with the build. today iam going to take one spring off and measure both eye to eye and along the spring. tomorrow i will call allpro and ask them the length of the stockers and the long travels. iam hoping i have the wrong springs, that is an easyer fix than cuttin off the front hanger. more time and money. here at the shop we pay by the hour for the stall and iam payin the welder (rick) $50 an hour. it adds up quick.
but so far it has been a good time.

i just took one spring off and these are the measurements i got.
from center eye to center eye was: 41.10/16"
from inside wall of the eye to inside wall of the eye (if that makes sense): 42.75"
total length of the spring measuring from the out side of the spring was: 48"
OH  i just got an idea.
iam going to go measure the saggy stock spring and see if the numbers are close

didnt get much done today got snagged up on little stuff. started on the rear spring hanger sliders. i didnt like how my spring hangers hung down so much so i made some ramps for them.
check em out.
this is the inside one
got another 85 runner. build coming soon!!

havik

the out side one was a little more complicated. we had to leave early so it didnt get welded on but you get the idea.

looks nice...what did you cut those with?

MY BUILD UP THREAD

havik

i didn't cut them i had them made. but the shop that made them used a plasma then grounded them smooth. the ramps started off both being straight. my idea was the outside ramp would be in at an angle then we noticed that the spring would hit it. made a cut and a bend and we are back to good. we played with a few ideas but this one was the most simple and seemed to be the strongest. after we get both sides welded in iam going to make a temp from cardboard and take it back to the shop to get made from .25" for the actual slider, bottom part.

i just called allpro  :shakehead:
I am 90% sure i have the right springs :hammerhead: my spring # does not end in stk so that means :flamer:
i dont even want to think it. but yes i have to cut the front spring hanger off and weld it back .75" :smack:
iam going to double check tonight. iam thinking about buying a new:turtle:spring hanger.
not sure yet.

dude your hanger is WELDED looks awesome. just make it look the same .75" back and you will be set,

havik

yeah i wish i made that hanger. its  :turtle:marlins front spring hanger.
and about the all pro hanger; yeah all pro makes good stuff but I am a huge fan of marlin him self and the business he runs. i met marlin at a off road expo and was shocked at how nice he was. plus marlin gives military discount. and when i got my allpro springs i wasn't impressed with how they shipped them. allpro makes great stuff marlin makes great stuff. both have good customer support. both are prove'n on the trail and both represent California. i just perfer to give my money to marlin and Co.

where's the option for military discount? i've never gotten one, and i met marlin in person a while back. i agree that he's a top notch guy...nothing like buying american made parts from a person that appreciates the military

this is true but you would have to be a jerk to lie about being in the military just to save a little more than tax.
