I was originally going to build mine that way.  I'm still learning to bend tube so I tried to minimize the amount of bends that I could screw up

The turn signals are going away.  I kinda put them on as a temp fix until I could wire in a trailer taillight converter that I bought last year (to make the red LED's blink as a tailight).  Those yellow LED's are leak.  They can only be seen at night.  I'll just weld up the holes I drilled in the sheetmetal tailight holders.  The bottom inch or 2 of the red LED's might be covered but there's 4 inches of light above so that should work out OK.

yeah- when it comes to getting tube bent im lucky enough to have a family memeber do it for me. he bends it, i get the tube and truck prepped and do the welding.
i was wondering how those lights were gonna do. the ones i have are the bulbed side marker lights from autozone. they had some red ones maybe ill try those if these suck real bad. where did you get the trailer light converter. i thought about going that way but the wife wants this to be an "as free as possible" project and i had the lights laying around for my 4wheeler trailer.

I picked up a taillight converter from an RV place for $25.  You have to rewire the rear tailights to make them work properly (hence the reason I haven't done it yet, too lazy to rewire the tails  ).  Sticking my arm out and signaling is much easier

any body close to La Veta CO have a welder and mind giving me a hand welding some parts on my truck I got it tacked in place with my lil 90 amp mig but need something bigger to burn it all in

I finally broke down and bought a truck!  Got the go-ahead from the wife about a month ago after she drove my car around in 95 degree weather with no AC  :mrgreen:

I've been looking for a couple of months and finally pulled the trigger on a 2006 Dodge Ram 3500 Mega Cab 5.9 Cummins Turbo Diesel with 32k miles.  I wanted the 5.9 because of all the emissions regulations placed on the 2007+ diesels.  I also wanted somthing with low miles.  Everything I found was high mileage.  The engines don't mind the high mileage but I wanted a truck that would last me for years to come.

Back seat is huge!  The kids will have a ton of space along with any adult that sits back there.

As for Canada, I got a job with an oil technology firm (Schlumberger). Just couldnt turn it down with this economy. Im keeping my truck here in colorado so that I can come back and go on runs with everyone

Thanks!  It's been along time coming.  I been driving for 15 years now and never had AC in the 3 cars I've owned.  It's going be nice to have AC next summer!  I gotta start saving my $$$$ for a trailer though!

Little slow about posting this up but I finally got a rear bumper!  

Got a really good deal on it, but had to drive up to Casper, Wyoming to get it. That drive was the suck, nothing out there.

It's a CBI wrap around rear tube bumper, sanded and painted it and threw it on. Well...sort of loosely bolted on currently as one of the nuts welded to the inside of the frame got stripped, just need to get off my butt and put on the longer ones I bought lol. But here it is:



Went to the junkyard and found a hinged license plate frame off an old Buick that I was thinking I could bolt on over the hitch opening so it would be centered.

I also have yet ANOTHER CV boot that ripped.   Not even two weeks ago I had the drivers side upper boot rip and replaced it. Just discovered yesterday that the passenger side ripped on the same spot. Ugh! Looks like I'll have to lower my coils a bit.

So need to get another CV, replace that, lower coils, replace rear axle seal, fix a few interior things, and theres one other thing I can't remember I need to do...but then hopefully all will be well!

Just placed an order with Marlin for some new front bumpstops (part of their Christmas sale  ) and some new knuckle cone washers ($3.60 each X 8 ) and new knuckle stud nuts.  I'm tired of having them come loose on every trip  .  Maybe putting new hardware on the frontend will help.  I'm currently just using the old cone washers.  I cleaned them up with a wire wheel on the bench grinder years ago. Maybe they are toast along with the old original stud nuts.  I also have to install the 5th knuckle studs from Longfield.  I'm tired of the Toyota stuff and plan on moving to 1 tons in the future

I am working for a company called Intervention Community Corrections- I work oversight and supervision of felons direct sentenced to community corrections or people transitioning from DOC.

I'll let you know how it works. Happy to not drive 35 minutes to use my buddies anymore lol

Sounds like an interesting job; hope it pays well for dealing with former/current criminals. DOC is a nice place from what I've heard, ha ha.
Did that welder come with the cart? I just noticed that; looks like a pacakge deal.
