Take a look at this link and you can map some of the registered sex offenders in your area.  In some cases there are even pictures.

http://www.mapsexoffenders.com/

I am on the school board of a small private school and protecting students from sex offenders has become a high priority item recently.  The principal mentioned a number of them in the area and two within three miles of the school.  I don't see that many listed on the website above so I'm assuming that it cannot be an all inclusive list.

It is really scarry.  :scared:

4 within about a mile of me.  :headshake:

www.meganslaw.com is another one, but I think you have to pay for some of the services.  The school may be willing to pay for it though?

Do they tell you what the offences were?

Seems that would help narrow down which ones were the real threat to children and with a picture you could help make sure the kids and teachers, etc can recognize them and avoid/report as necessary.

The registered people are categorized as Level I, II or III depending on likelyhood of repeat behaviour.  Do some internet research and you will know as much as me in about 10 minutes.

HOLY :pokinit:!  I just checked that site out, looked at about 10 people (most of which appeared outwardly shifty), then clicked on one I knew....a coworker!  Now the dilemma, do I keep this little gut wrencher to myself or do I give management a heads up?  The offense is lewd and lucivious acts with a minor under 14.  Quite the conundrum...

You might want to mention this to management as this person might have lied on their application.

Just keep in mind issues of slander.  I'm not sure how this fits in, but certainly something to consider with care.

It's not slander if it's on a website and they have knowingly registered.  You might just point management towards that website and let them decipher the information themselves.

Oh yea, it isn't slander.  I know where the guy lives, and when I clicked on one of the flags without thinking it was pretty much where he lived.  The picture is him and the first name matches.  My boss and I think pretty much on the same plane, so I may get him off to the side and pass the story by him sans names so as not to get any balls rolling before figuring something out.  He knows how I am about things like this, cause he already knows that I won't tell him how I know when our guys are lying, just so there's no chance of it coming out during a heated argument or anything.  The guy seems nice enough, and I've known him for almost 5 years without issue, so it had to have been from some time before I'd say.

I couldn't believe how many offenders there were in my town!  I already found 2 I know, but I have it on good authority that one of them got the short end of the stick and took the fall for somebody else.  I also checked for the town I grew up in, and there were only 3 in town and 2 nearby, but it's a small, proud town and it'd be incredibly uncomfortable for a known offender to interact in that community.

Offenders like this just make me sick.  There is not much you can do other than be informed and take precautions and keep kids educated.

motorider228

wow i am glad i saw that watchdog site, those people are fucked up. Nate, I would think for a while about telling on that guy, I mean it wasn't rape or molestation and he may have just had a gf a few years younger than him in high school. I think it is still messed up but not as bad as the sicks bastards who rape and molest children.  My brother had a friend in college who got arrested twice for urinating in public twice while he was drunk up at school and now he must register as a sex offender. I think that is a little rediculous.

This could be very true, but you also bring up a valid point.  Where does california draw the line between lewd/lucivious acts and other charges?  I saw a few "oral copulation with somebody under 16", so we know that doesn't fall under lewd acts, but does it basically constitute showing, talking, proposition, etc., or is touching still under lewd/lucivious?

That's very possible. I think it would be easier to tell if we had someone on here who knew the law pretty well.  I also think those laws are too open ended for situations regarding this stuff.  So much of it also has to do with demeanor.  Like the lewd acts one could have been him giving some young girl date rape or they could have been together like bf and gf or they could have been drunk at some party and hooked up.  One of my friends had sex with a 15 year old when he was 19 because she told him she was 18.  This girl definitley looks like an 18 year old as well so she could have lied quite easily about it.  She told him her real age after that fact and he had nothing to do with her because of that.  So maybe your coworker was in a situation like that.  Does his job require him being around children or teen age girls? If so that may be a reason to go to management because it's better to stop things before they happen but if he doesn't then there may not be a need to bring it up.  He may be different but normally people don't do a bad thing once get caught and then never do it again, bad behavior is persistent so this could be a problem. There are many ways to look at the situation.

kneedownnate

You're very right, this type of activity has a tendency to root itself very deeply in a person, so it can lay dormant for very long, only to re-appear way down the road.  The majority of the time he's with other coworkers, out in the open, but there is always a good chance of interaction with children.

I'm very aware of the possibilities of a girl lying about their age, and working where I do I find it increasingly difficult to judge a girls age, often seeing them walking around in bikinis.  Too often you find yourself checking out a girl, thinking she's of legal age, only to have her walk closer and see that she's very young.  They're not built like they were when I was younger, and they don't always act their age either.

I was just looking over that list again and it makes me want to write all those addresses down for the people who raped women and molested children and drive to their houses with a baseball bat.

dang, we have one 'LEWD,LASCIVIOUS CHILD U/16; F.S. 800.04' that is just a couple blocks from the grammer school.
He looks to be in his 50's and is a nasty fat slob! :yikes:
But I also know there is one that is down the block from us, and it doesn't show them on this map.

Arizona has it's own site, I'd bet Florida does too.

Being a (sometimes over protective) father, I check the local site fairly often. There are 2 that live right around the corner from my daughter.

A related note...
My daughter got her first handgun, a S&W 908. I got her a nice carry round, she's going for her CCW in January. Brings a tear to my eyes, knowing I've raised a good Conservative!

Haha nice abnormaltoy. I think it's a good idea for young women to atleast carry something whether it be mace, a knife or a gun because there are just so many sickos out there.  You remind me of my girlfriends dad, when I first went to her house and met him he was cleaning a few of his guns down stairs on the coffee table (SKS, S&W .40, mauser bolt action 30 .06 I believe and his favorite home defense weapon the 10 guage pistol grip pump) He was acting all tough when I first walked in but being from a conservative marine corps family I knew what everything was so I sat down besides him and started talking with him about guns. He was quite delighted that his daughter brought home someone that knew about guns, four wheeling, hunting, cars and doesn't wear their pants around their knees.

What do you carry infernal?

I did the same gun cleaning routine with her first couple of zit encrusted, candy assed, baggy pant wearing, punk ass bitches she brought home.
She carries pepper spray and a knife her boyfriend gave her...she's freakin' armed to the gills!
