I wanna build a buggy for all types of wheeling and i has to be undestructable but light. I plan on useing a Formula Z chassy, i wanna run a 4.3 power plant and a turbo 350 trans with a low geared t-case, the axles are swhat have me boggled because i want clearance but i dont want to fix them i was thinking of either a 9" F/R using a dimond type setup in the front 9" center with 60 outers OR a set of dana 44 with chromo axles???? i plan on a set of 37 boggers cut or 38.5x11 boggers maybe 38.5 sx but i dont know yet i just want the axles to have alot of clearance and not to break!

Hyena

you seem to have a lot of different plans here lately.  make up your mind and go for it.

Shamb

if you plan on not breaking axles.. I wouldn't go Dana 44

well the whole thing is i am getting paid alot more than i used to so i start a build up and decide that i want something totaly different so i sell what i have started and wheel and deal for parts on a new project but as of right now i have 2 projects going my 81 toy long bed for mud snow or just drivin out in the woods and i would like to build an unstopable trail creeper for special occasions where the trails are just right. if you or any one has axle tech handy please help me  :help:

Chad_Romine

Why not just run some d60s and shave them? With all the money you save you can have it done alot faster and actually get out and wheel it.  :beerchug:

I concur go with the D60's idea, save time and money on the long run, then you can get away with running 37's or 39's. Shave the bottom on both front and rear and you'll be set. Then as you start to break the D60's start adding some beef to the axles like chromo on d60's, now that sounds like a fun ride to me.

the 60's would be great but i was hopeing for less weight, that and around here a torn apart 60 will cost about 1000, and yes it is true that there are no bad days to hit the mud but it's always better to have a crowd to impress and i definately have the "lead foot" motto, (the harder you hit it the better the show).

so is there any axle in the specs that you guys know of. Like light, strong enough for a strong v-6 and 38.5's and with good ground clearance. and speed isnt always the best but my right foot sure seems to think so  :driving:

ok mog is not gonna work cuz it will be too wide too heavy and wrong side diff, i have decided to go with a 3rz and a 5spd. , i think that a 44 with chromos or a 9'' center with 44 outers would hold fine or am i just not factoring in some super weak point of the 44

Besides it's a 44! Go with a 60 or toyota with longs.

Well I am gonna take M1-A1 Abrams tank parts and build a super truck that will completely annihilate anybody on the trails and crush all opposition to my conquest of the rubicon trail! I am not worried about the weight just gettin it.

I am a person who completely preplans every thing i do when it come to dumping a shite ton of money into in it! I really dont give a damn wheather or not u guys think i am building what i say i am. i am only posting to figure out if u  :stopit: have heard of somthing that maybe i havent quiet yet, so instead of bullshirting me answer the q's like you have or leave my post alone... and about the pics i do not have a digital cam cuz i figure i was there when i built it y do i need the pics u'll see it on the oregon trails with in 2 yrs cuz the buggy is not my main priority, gettin a$$ and drinkin   is

Phat_Biatch

I'm running Dana 44 with cromoly Axel's and super u-joints and take it from my experience don't go dana 44 u will regret it good luck! :wiggle:

dune_it86

thank you phat B. i figured if chromo's made a toy super strong than it would work on a 44 too. I'll have to weigh some options before i start slingin suspension

Hyena

your a troll.  calling us fags is totally uncalled for and shows just how old you act.

dune_it86

well inever said that i was doing the buggy build as i was talkin to u guys i said that i wanted to start a project, sorry if i have offended but i was offended by the bull shirt and tank part comments... thanks for what info you guys have provided for me i still am un sure about what axle i should keep my eye out for. The buggy build is in the parts search step it has not yet begun to go together...

Hyena

if money is not a problem a high pinion 9 inch with 60 outers would be a killer axle to especially with bobby's new dana 60 birfs.

Chad_Romine

It just sounds like a kid that is dreaming about a rig that will never get built.

Im not trying to tear you down but you where giving some good advice from a number of people but you seem kinda stuck on your plan.

You say a 60 is too heavy and expensive. Well a built D44 is going to be in the price range of a stock D60.

There are very few people out there that dont have regrets about building a D44 up instead of just buying a D60 to begin with.

If your talking about building a Custom 9" why not get a custom length diamond housing and run some longfield axles?

IF GETTING A$$ AND DRINKING BEER ARE YOUR MAJOR PRIORITIES I HIGHLY DOUBT YOU WILL GET ANYTHING DONE ON THIS BUILD.

Didnt mean to piss you off just trying to give you some help. Take care.  :usa:  :outtahere:
