I don't know how many people here are into UFC, but 88_Pathy is a wrestler at the Junior College I used to attend and he has been getting me interested in the sport, and I'm really catching on, especially for the 170 lb class with Gracie, Hughes, Penn, and GSP.

Hughes is my hero. UFC 65 was great, if you haven't seen it yet you should check it out. It was a great match between Hughes and Georges St. Pierre. I don't know why Hughes didn't want to fight. He walked in so calm and just looked like he didn't want to win :dunno: I know he doesn't show much emotion, but I think he needs to step it up a bit

If you watched Hughes last fight you would have saw him blast BJ Penn in the third round. He picked him apart on standing up.  Which gave him alot of confidence in his stand up.  Problem with that is Penn had a broken rib and was basicly just standing there.  In the interviews before this fight Hughes kept stating that his stand up was better than GSP, and that he wanted to become more like Chuck Liddel...please..Yes Hughes stand up has improved from his early years but he in now way is a striker or at the level of guys like GSP and especially Liddel.  Combine that  with I think he way underestimated GSP, He didnt look nearly as physically big or determined.

Tim "the walrus" Silvia...Never....Ever...should the ref have to remind the fighters to fight in a CHAMPIONSHIP fight.  Silvia is so scared of losing his precious belt that he was content with just jabbing and keeping him at bay.  I understand the first 2 rounds he had to be very carefull of the take down, but at the last 2 rounds when Monson was visable tired fustrated and limtied vision from the jab making his eyes swell, that is when the Champ should have pounced proving that he is the champ.  Am I dening that he won...no...he won the fight by points.  But in my opinion and almost every other true MMA fan he is the worst champ to hold the belt and the only reason he is affective is that he has faced guys that cant deal with his hieght.  With the exception to Arloski...man did that guy choke in the rematch.

I respect your opinion, but if you did real research behind the sport and looked at the sportmanship  between most fighters you would find this to be the oposite of your comment.  These guys have a passion to push there physical limits and test there abilities against the best in the world.  They are trained athletes that study there craft, and compete in a controlled enviroment with rules regulations and respect for each other.  For those fans that come to watch two guys wildy swing at each other till one is a bloody mess, than they are not fans of the sport, but fans of pure violance.  I watch the fight and am inpressed at the skill and patients of the athletes, creating space, angles, setting up shots, takes downs, reversing situations.  It is like a full contact chess match.  And at the end of it they usaully hug and show respect to each other.  THis sport takes away all the balls pucks bats goallines hoops and everthing else away, and puts two athletes toe to toe to see which one is better.

Sorry for making this so long...

Well said, I agree completely with every comment you made here.

GSP was faaaar more hungrier for the belt than Hughes. It was almost like some paid him off to loose. I can't wait for the rematch. Maybe then Hughes will have a desire to do something instead of just walk into the building slowly with no care.

GSP definately deserved the belt and he is an amazing striker.

Matt Hughes is not a born fighter, dont get me wrong he was a born competitor and has a work ethic like no other, but he doesnt have a passion for fighting.  It has always been a way to bring money back to the farm.  He has stated in his last few interviews that he is planning to retire by 35, so he can get back to his real passion...Farming.  He has already established him self as the most dominate Welter Wieght of all time.  Has the record for most defence to his belt, what more does he have left to prove.  Combine all that and you get a man who no longer has the "eye of the tiger".  The only hope I see for him to gain the title back is if his competitive side takes over and gets charged up like after the loss to BJ Penn several years back.

I am a huge Liddell fan.  I hope he makes Tito Ortiz cry again.  I have been a of Liddell ever since he was bartending at the LIBRARY in San Luis Obispo.  They didn't have a need for bouncers.

Tito Ortiz cried when he lost to Randy Couture and thus lost his championship belt.  Liddell knocked him out, but never made him cry.  CHuck is an amazing fighter but is not that well rounded.  He has even stated that he doesn't feel comfortable using his ground skills in the octogan.  As long as tito doesn't just try and stand with him, but actually goes in with a game plan and stick to it I feel that this will be a diffrent fight.  But Chucks hands have gotten even better with his angles timing and accuracy, so if tito slips up even a little tito will be catching up on some sleep.  It is going to be a good fight...I hope.  Either way I hope they both ready for war cause I would hate to see a one sided fight from either of them.  I want the best fighter to win..but if I had to choose I am going to be pulling for tito.
