I am really into making my car hurt myself without anything touching me, and my last install did a good job of it...  Too bad I blew up my Van:
http://www.carstereo.com/installs/photo_gallery_album.cfm?home=yes&photoid=29057&galleryid=2153

That is my latest one, but 2 weeks before it blew, I bought some 12" Mass Destruction Sidewinders for $300 both.  It was the loudest thing I could think of around here...

Soo...  Just wondering, what does anyone else have??  My best SPL score was 146db's at 41hz with 2 12" subs, a van, and a 912 watt Hifonics amp.  (caps suck BTW.)

Edit:  When I said it has changed a lot...  I ment it...  Now it has 2 pioneer 3 way 6x9's in the dash, 2 3 way Pioneer 6 1/2 in the rear, and HAD a Pioneer 6600 Head, but it blew up in my Samurai.
Stock 82 LWB on 33's welded in the rear.  Amazes me!  Been through 4 motors in 2 months though...

I don't like loud, my hearing is bad enough already!  I prefer good quality sound :yesnod:

I have a 60 dollar head unit and some handme down blown six by nines, when I do get a stereo in it it will focus on quality instead of loudness.

My runner has 4 1/2 inch Focal 3-ways up front, 5 1/4 alpines in the rear.
Alpine head unit, Fosgate 750W amp (good deal on it otherwise would go Alpine) and a 12 inch Alpine Type R sub.

Man, you guys have some good taste...  Focal is one of my top picks for sound quality...  Rainbow would be my #1 and CDT would be closely following.
For subs; either Type R's, or my Sidewinders (for under $150.)

A guy from a site I used to contribute to used to put up 154.# DB's with a single 15" Type R...  A GOOD 2x10" setup will get about 143, a GOOD 2x12" setup will get about 145, and a GOOD 2x15" will get about 148-150...  But 154 with 1 15 is insane.

But my buddy is going to get 2 sidewinders soon and pound the crap out of his 85 RX7...  If I can set it up perfect, I would expect 146 with his Hifonics BX605...  (Big box, little car (Built for sound) and a "good" amp.)

I am an Alpine fan myself...good clarity, low harmonic distortion.  The Focals were a good price and they sounded killer so I jumped on em.  One of these days Ima rplace that Type R with a JL 12W7, but I don't have $700 to drop on audio at the moment...my truck, she doesn't run so good.

If you have the right box, you might be louder.

It should be pretty loud, i dont have it hooked up yet though so I dont know. My last set up was 2-L7 10" woofers and they could make you def.

There is a difference in making you go def and making it hard to breathe.(for instance.  I can't hear out of my right ear as of yesterday morning...  Due to an unfortunate ear cleaning accident!)  I couldn't understand why nobody said anything about how loud it was untill they got out...

I started a new game with my Van though;  If you could drink your soda with the bass goinging and not chock it up, you get a dollar

I will never understand the need for that much bass.  At some volume level, especially when the listening distance is considered, the quality no longer matters.

I just remembered I have a radio of some kind in the Mammoth, but never turn it on cause I can't here it anyway and I hate commercials.

BTW I think it is a bad idea to advertise wot youse got so it has a better chance for it to go by by.

I don't waist lots of money in sound because of that reason. Why buy it so someone else will steal it.

I have a custom whole in my dash and matching wholes in the doors in my trail truck.  They help create better air circulation or something like that!  :disturbed:

I am glad someone said it! It annoys the CARP out of me. Not everyone thinks YOUR "music" (and I use that term VERY loosely) is cool, just as not everyone would think what I like to listen to is cool.
I don't want to hear your music any more then you want to hear mine.
Turn the dang thing down! :tantrum:
What's worse is when some :idiot: insists on blaring their carp on the trail! I'm in the woods to enjoy the woods, not listen to someone elses idea of "music". Keep it to your damn self!
