First I saw them was on Formula Toy 27.
After that, I had Dave's Offroad build them for me.

Ask Big Mike, he gained 11" of travel. They help.

The drawings are not to spec, it was just so I could get a visual on a new idea.

I think a low profile rubber snubber on either side of the pivot would be a good idea.  It would help prevent funny noises and stress on the welds when under fully arched out.

methinks a 7/8ths bolt would be alot better..  especially since its steel on steel..  any greasing ability ?  its a better design than the last thats for sure..

also i hope its not some welded together junk and they are actually machined pieces  otherwise  your strength is gone

it would have to be machined.
the bolt held up fine on the last set, it was the tubing that was the problem.

The center pivot should be as long as possible to help stabilize the load and not over work the bolt and center pivot block.

3/4" should be fine if the center pivot is long enough.

It is the torquing of the axle that exerts excessive force on the bolt, so making that pivot spread out as much as possible will make it stronger.

I like it Find a machine shop and market them yourself on ebay if you want to make some cash. No joke you will make good money. I will buy a set if they hold up  I could probably be convinced to rip a hole in my axle testing them also...

I am not even gonna attempt to draw but could wings be put off the side and trussed to the axle to increase the weld area for the perch? It is probaly impossible to know what I am thinking of without a picture. I also know that spring perches on 3rd gen rear axles are much more beefy than previous models and are boxed in from the factory. Too bad I just sold mine

You could just put a 1/4" x 2" flat bar strap around the axle and weld it to the perch. That will keep the perch from tearing loose.

Hey Mini, that is pretty slick. I really like the addition made in reply #17 by alwayzbroken. You could make it replace the whole pirch all together even, but definately that side support would surly be a benifit.

I have not installed the new HD pivots yet, but I plan on doing it before the Hammers for Thanksgiving.

what size and thickness was the tubing on the previose design ive been thinking about making a set and using 1 1/2 .250 wall dom and a 1" grade 8 bolt

Ok, so this one would fit over the original perch and weld to the front and rear edges of the perch, and the housing it self.
28* pivot (which is way more than I have used on the current design)
