where u been hiding at bro?

I have been pretty busy. I haven't done any truck stuff until recently when I started thinking about this project again. I have new ambition for this truck after seeing the new paint job. It looks wicked to say the least! When I get it back I will post pictures.

NO!!!  Keep those 34" LTB's on those stock white steel wheels!!!!!!!!!!!!!  That rig looks SWEET that way!!!   Take your money you would spend on 20's and get hi-steer, or upgrade the truck with other aftermarket parts!  One of the cleanest trucks i've seen though!  :beerchug:

Thanks skipn.

I ordered wheel spacers last night and plan to order Hi-Steer and the necessary parts to put rear springs up front when my tax refund comes if I get one this year. I have black rims that are gonna get balanced with airsoft bbs. Most of the front bumper is done but needs a few more bars. I need to pick up a 4.88 R&P from someplace and a pinion bearing then the axles should be good. I am getting excited to work on the truck again if the weather permits. The shop is too expensive to heat with constant single digit temperatures.

Does anybody have a part number or know of a good 12" to 13" travel shock that doesn't cost as much as the Bilstein shocks and won't require cutting of the fender wells?

I swapped the vent/wing window on the driver's door to a full non-wing window glass and it was easy. There was one spot welded support bracket underneath the wing window pillar that needed to be cut out but other than that the swap was all bolts and straight forward as long as you have a complete parts door for what you are swapping to.

I finally made it down to get pictures today when I picked up some other stuff. It hadn't been started in 2 weeks but the old optima cranked it over and even at 5 degrees it started without too much hassle.

Yep new window is in. Looks pretty much like a regular window.

New wheels. I think I like the white wheels better but the stock ones are so narrow, have such lousy offest and were getting a little rusty. I wish I would have sand blasted and painted these white before I mounted them. Maybe later. I think white soft 8s would look pretty good on this truck.

Thanks for the compliments! This is what the new rims are. The old white wheels are at the top of this page in earlier posts. Jegs has the cragar wheels dirt cheap.

When we spun the tires and wheels up the front sides needed an average of 20.5 oz of weight and the back side needed 9oz  :yikes: That was with brand new wheels and tires. The tires have only been driven on and off a trailer about 5 or 6 times. Either the LTBs don't balance for crap, the rims aren't true, or a combination of both tires and wheels being on the cheap end of the product line. I was gonna use the airsoft BBs but I had ready access to actual tire balancing sand. I will report back how well it works.

Here is what the front bumper looks like so far. I am open to suggestions on how to finish it off. It obviously needs more tubes and is just tacked in place for now. I no longer have access to a bender since it was taken home by its owner so only straight tubes will be added. I have some ideas but I am curious to hear your thoughts. I want to add some light tabs and a couple offroad lights someplace down low in the middle and LEDs for running and turn signals.

I also have come into ownership of an antique fire truck siren that must be from the 60s or early 70s. The power wire on this baby looks like a battery cable. I haven't fired it up but judging for the power supply it is really gonna rip some eardrums out.

Last ones for now. Next up I think is gonna be a solid window glass for the rear with white mesh you can't see through from the outside but can see out of. I am thinking all white with a ghost spider web pattern offset to oneside that is barely visible or light gray. Either that or just tint it 5% depending on how much a custom mesh design costs. The windows are gonna have to get tinted now that the driver's window has been replaced.

I am rounding up the parts for a RUF spring pack, power steering conversion, high steer and 4.88 gears. I have one 4.88 welded third already that needs a pinion bearing if anybody has a new pinion bearing laying around  :eyebrow: I want enough clearance to be able to run the tires off my trail rig on occasion. The 4.88s aren't gonna be low enough to slang those very easily though

P.S. the new tomato budweiser  :reg:

Have you considered going white on that front bumper, like your flatbed? I think painting the wheels white would be cool too, but they may end up stained if ya spend much time in that mn mud.

Good call mikey, I plan to paint the bumper white. It is unpainted bare metal now. I don't plan to do much muddin with this thing. You should see the mud stains some of mud leaves around here! The fertilizer and various chemicals in some mud pits can eat the shiny finish off your paint job too if you leave it on for too long. Ask me how I know that  :snare:

That's a sweet paint job. What inspired you to do the webs on it?

Thanks. I dropped the truck off at my buddies place and told him to do whatever he wanted. He came up with the idea and ran with it.

I welded the front and got a few more tubes in it. The bumper is almost done except for turn signals and some off road lights up front to fill in some empty spaces.

Next on the list is installing the 5.29s, high steer, rears up front, 4' rear lift springs, new projector headlights, the wheel spacers, shock hoops and shackles. It is also getting a new flatbed very soon.

Here's your update! I have been working on the truck on and off lately. I will try to bring the progress up to speed for anybody that cares.

Rears up front with a six leaf pack.
