I was at Moonrocks when the 300 lbs bumper  :smack:  that I had just welded in decided to fall off.  Would not have been so bad but it was on the first  rock pile I came to and In front of my whole crew.  One side busted off and the other held the weld so good I had to hammer and chisle it off  b4 I could drive off. :rofl2:

My buddy ghettowheeler welded a rock slider on and it fell off on gate keeper when it was still gatekeeper.   It was in front of the memorial weekend crowd about  2 years ago it was great!  :haha:

I was having electrical problems for a long time several years ago. One run I stopped and then all of a sudden, no start, no click nothing. We checked voltages everything. My friend asked if I had a switch or anything. I said no. Well after a time I realized that a pair of electrical pliers had moved in the glovebox and switched "off" my switch I said I did not have.

I was driving my "new" '73 Ford home a few years ago.  It stalled on the freeway and I figured it was out of gas.  So we put gas in it and it still wouldn't start :hammer: So we get a tow to the nearest parking lot.  I get back in the truck to try to start it and realized it was still in "D" :hammerhead:

Not a breakdown but I sure got stuck real bad once. It was last year and we were on the John Bull in Big Bear, we usually stop at the overlook campsite where you have to drop into the campsite for lunch. To get there you drop down into this off-camber slot that tips you into a huge rock. Well unknown to the rest of my club members there is a bypass just to the east of the slot and I sat and waited until every one had gone through then got myself into position to just drive in. Well wouldn't you know it I high centered on a fairly large rock while getting in position so they wouldn't see the bypass. I was so stuck that I was dragging the vehicle that was winching me, finally we had to butt the tires of the winch vehicle to a huge rock to keep it from moving.  The worst part of the whole deal was I had just received a complement from a fellow member on how well I wheel with vehicles without all the bling.

Yes, I am an idiot :hammerhead:

I have been made a fool several times as a result of my twin stick.  2wd Low feels like it will climb anything, but after multible attempts to climb things that a stocker wouldn't even notice in 4x4 you finally go...

If you wheeled with me when I had my 84 truck you knew it was coming, once every day about 2 hrs. into a trail it was going to shut off. Don't know why it did this but it was guaranteed to happen, usually in the middle of the trail with nowhere to go. Sitting and waiting was the only cure, usually a half hour and it would fire back up and then run for the rest of the day with no other issues.

In Las Cruces, my rig died and wouldn't start, determined it to be a fuel delivery problem. The relay wasn't kicking over to tell the pump to start running, checked all the fuses they were good, ended up by-passing the relay, few months later with no luck fixing it I came across a fuse that was blown. You had to hold it up to the light to see it, well, after installing a new one the relay worked again!!! :smack:

Another one, back a few years ago when I was wheelin my Blazer, we were on a local trail when my tie rod started bending, bent three times then broke, spent a whiloe getting it fixed and ready to leave the trail (been on the trail for about 6 hours when it should have taken an hour) when I started to move and my rear shaft let go!!! Actually twisted it to the piont that it broke, thankfully I had a spare.

I went out to PC with a buddy one time, he'd never been wheelin, so I figured we'd go out there, I'd show off a bit, and then let him screw around.  Well, 5 minutes into us being there, I got hung up on my rear diff, and instead of being smart, I goosed it, and started spinning my tires.  All of a sudden POP :yikes: and the truck starts dragging the pass. side tire.  Blew a stub shaft, and wedged it under the A arm :smack:

First time wheeling with a bud and girlfriend in my 93 heep cherokee. Thought I could go anywhere! Apparently I did and slid into a creek bed and got stuck to the frame. All this in unfamiliar private property in the dead of night. The three of us had to walk like 15 miles on the side of the road. Some crazy guy kept driving by trying to hit us (literally) it was really scary. Needless to say this little "adventure" put me in my place (as far as wheeling goes) I learned a couple important lessons

I got alot but here is 2 I can remember good!  I had been thru the whole con with no hang ups or breaks and I thought I smelt like roses.  I went to climb over a huge rock and pose on it when you guessed it the con gremlins came and pulled my jeep onto the rock.  It was in a sandy part I had no traction at all both diffs hung up.  It took a toy formula pulling from the front and a fullsize cruiser sbc pushing me off the rock.   :smack:
and on the Marlin Crawler trip, Blackdog will remember this I was trying to climb a rock the size of my rig in front of him and I got smacked by the gremlins again.  He had to wheel over my rig to stay on the trail and pull me off which ripped off my grill  :rofl2:
I love wheelin !  :beerchug:

Just to clarify, the crawling over the jeep ripped off the grill, not the pulling out

2 years ago i was crawling in my buddy chris's creek.  my truck went sideways and my foot hit the kill switch.  we tried starting it for about half an hour.  we thought it wasn't getting fuel.  so we pulled it as flat as we could and it still didn't start.  at that time i remembered i had the kill switch.  hit that and it started right up.  :0

Not mine, but on our groups regular trip to Las Cruces in May, there was carnage all around.  Well this one particular event we had just uprighted a jeep that had flipped over backwards, it wasn't running right, and then another one of our rigs, this ugly blue thing,  :gap:started to choke and die.  It hadn't ran well all day and we couldn't find the source of the problem.  He finally popped the hood and I think someone mentioned as a joke check the air intake as this had been a problem on another one of our rigs the day before.  Sure enough, the fan had eatin a hole about 6 inches long on the bottom of the air intake tube...

Oh and by the way Tice, who was your daddy on your fuel pump bypass, and then wasn't it right after we got you running again that I busted those knuckle studs?? :smack:

I was running with a lot older guys couple years ago. And in this really steep hill one off them got stuck in the snow, only 10 meters or so from the top. And they where wondering about how to pull him down with out flipping him.
I Say no problem and floored the 36"  ´84 Toyota hilux 22r hitting the hill doing well over reasonable average. I was aiming for the top, but just before hitting the hill I hit this snow bank that sent me flying a couple of meters. And after that I flew up the hill no problem feeling like a hero.
But this turned me so way off course (to the hill where it was even steeper) and I casually turned the wheel to the right direction. which got me to driving vertical on the hill which was quite cool and fun until I felt that my truck was loosing power. (I don´t know actually what it was but basically it wasn´t getting any fuel.) Is the carburetters Toyota equipped with magnetic switches???    :sleepy:

so I turned the wheel even more facing the truck down and then I hit a powder bank. and got stuck only on my way down,  :rivers:

I try-ed everything and nothing worked the truck was getting spark and fuel to the carburetor and it cranked but nothing.

My buddy´s winched me to  a level place and I tore it even more up finding nothing, and packed it up to leave the truck there and finally tried  and then as usual 3 cranks and running??? (first time I try ed to crank on a level place)

any way´s it is in the memory not pleasant experience

I once thought I would be cool and hang out my door (door open) as I reversed through a mud hole, well i caught my door on the side of the mud hole and pulled it about 45 degrees farther than it should ever go. It bent the fender, door and the door hinges.
