My 86 IFS 33's, a simple lift of 2" body, Downey/Rancho A-arm kit which had everything needed to beef up the IFS to withstand even the toughest trails. The only other thing I did was to put lockers and 4.88's in the diffs. Picture quality may be poor, I took them off a video disc.

Here's my brother's on 35's 87 IFS with the same stuff except he did 3" body, and put a Pro comp lift on the front, he did use the Rancho/Downey kit too, just combined the good from both.

Thanks

What does your brother think of 35's with 4.88 gears?

Anybody have 35's and SAS?

"Later, I learned that even though I engage 4WD my hubs are not automatically locking? Something about manual locking hubs I think. What's manual mean? I need to read a manual to lock them? lol  So I found these neat autolocking hubs and installed them. Sometimes they dont stay locked while I am backing up, but that's fine because I dont have a backup camera to see where Im going (like our RV) so I just simply dont ever back up"- BigMike

I will probably start hunting sometime in the next year.  The budget doesn't support a 4Runner quite yet, but it is in the works...currently #2 on the list.

IFS is best kept at ambient temperature in a pile of scrap in the backyard.  When kept under a functioning vehicle, it tends to greatly diminish said vehicle's offroad ability.     -reklund5

I suspect the truck minus the transfer case, heavy duty cross member, front axle assembly, rear 3rd and a few other parts will likely get sold.

33x12.5x15 on 15x7 stock offset rims.......NO LIFT. No Rub

The trick is the offset being stock. Hammered the pinch weld flat to the body mount and trimmed off the bottom few inches of the liner.

I might be getting an 89 real soon.  I'm thinking SAS and 4.5 inch Alcan springs with 33's for now and upsized to 35's in the future.
