i did some research today at work and found out my truck is a z71 with a 14 bolt rear end with 3:73's
3.73 gears is right for a z71 but if its a 1500 then it has a 10 bolt rear unless it is a diesel or somebody swapped out the rear axle at some time.
check your differential cover, if there are 10 bolts on it (should be) then thats what it is, if 14 then its a 14 bolt.

my truck had the HD option which was the 14 semi floater with limited slip larger rear brakes and a beefier rear spring set up and it was a factory option its a 1/2 ton with pretty much a 3/4 ton rear end setup
