I like the look of the stock fenders depending on how the cops are about fender flare tickets. If you need more coverage go with the fiberglass, i would try to stay away from the fender flares.  :twocents:

I also like the look of the stock fenders.  IMO, fender flares are for Mall Crawlers.

stock fenders (unless u need coverage, like stated earlier). They are easy to bang-out/replace, don't crack like fiberglass, and wont get ripped off (usually taking part of the fender with it)

I have flares on my first gen, dont know what brand they look like bushwhackers. I like the look of them but I woudlnt have bought them myself, they were on the truck when I bought it. Nice peace of mind about the "coverage" issue though especially with plans to swap in an IFS rear.

They certainly aren't too durable though. My friend was trying to climb up my tire with his dads rubicon and ripped the flare most of the way off. Of course that is a torquey inline 6 pushing on it not rocks so who knows.

If you mud and crawl - stock or "cut" if necessary
If you show and shine - flares can look good (mall runner)
If you pre run - the pre-runner LOOK can be uniqie (esp here on the east coast)
-- but better have a suspension to back up the look!

Or you cna be just a pouser - like me

yeah yeah - still IFS...

I prefer stockers, cut if you have to, unless you've got some goofy wide 33's or a bunch of offset, you shouldn't need flares unless you mud alot, my tires dont stick out but maybe 2 inches, an inch under the allowed limit here.

*update on my fender flares*

I got back from wheeling at slickrock today, and a log had its way with my passenger rear fender so I just ripped it off as well as the drivers side one that had been previously damaged. Now I have the prerunnner look with just flares in the front  :smack:.. they'll all be coming off soon in addition to my body lift so some amount of fender trimming may be in order.

So basically I will have to change my opinion to agree with saying flares are for mall runners. They do not hold up on the trail.
