Got the box mounted, have a few ????'s
« on: Aug 15, 2006, 04:57:34 PM »
I got the IFS box mounted today and must say that it drives and feels a ton better! A few questions though. I noticed a seal leaking from where the steering shaft connects. Will this be ok if I just keep an eye on the fluid level? I heated the steering shaft up to pull it out and lengthen it about 3/4's of an inch. Should I weld it back or will it be ok to slip within itself? I just left it for now. Also, I think I mounted the box a little low but I plan on getting Sky's higher pitman arm in the future. What do you guys think??

Not sure what to say on your stering shaft since i got a leak there as well but havn't had an issue with it running outta fluid yet. By the looks of it your box is mounted as high and it can with out the pitman arm hitting the frame at the top where it connects to the shaft. That arm has a :pokinit: load of drop to it what kind is it?

Looks good. As for the seal, my Junk Yard P/S Box has leaked since day one, which was about a year ago now. The funny thing is, everytime I check the resivor, it is always good and full. Unless your's is dripping all over the place, it should be fine. My leak is so slow that it's just a dust grabber if nothing else..

I also have a P/S cooler installer so I have a bit more capiticy than normal

That box is mounted about the same as mine, you'll deffinetly need a low-pro pitman arm.
