Nothing special.  Just make sure to move all wires and start cutting.

You should do it then, but I would do a lot of research before doing it.  You might check Pirate

there was another young guy on here a few months back  that had a sweet looking 81  very clean, no rust,  he hacked that truck up till you couldnt tell what it was,  because he web wheeled  and saw what some guys where doing,  the reason for going flatbed is cause the stock bed is so rotted out, and falling off the truck
this kid bobbed the bed, then pulled the bed off, then tubbed the firewall, then decided the frame had too much rot, (it didnt) and then decided he didnt like it  and sold it  in pieces  for $300

I have found that is the only way people are going to learn and that is by trial and error even if it means hacking something.  We all have been there to different extents.

Since you are asking so many questions about mods, it seems to me that you may not have the skills to bob your bed.  You might want to think again before doing this.  It's not an easy process,

ok, but BEFOR YOU DO,   i would like to see you get some junkyard hood or something and cut it apart and practice welding that,  body panels are a PAIN if you dont have some practice doing it, or a cradle to roll the body

i always used a 1/16 or 3/32 6013 rod and about 50 amps,  weld and cool and weld and cool

stitch it up with spots  befor trying to seal the seam

mig would be easier if you have one,  but spot it together the seal the seam

you might also try a rear skid pan,  basically remove the rear bumper.  unbolt the rear of the bed and slide some 2x3 tube into the rear of the frame boxing the rear most section  and trim the  rollpan  where the license plate goes  from the factory,  and form a skid  from the crossmember just behind the shackles up  to the rear of the truck so it cant hang on anything

I've got about 50 sets of WRX Subaru buckets sitting at work, they are still on an evidence hold and the minute they become available I was going to post them up........

Very cool!  I have been half heartedly looking for some seats and rode in a WRX and was thinking they would be a good fit.  How do the mounts look? Close,or major mod.?  I saw a set in the classifieds but just not ready yet.  Keep us posted.
