Older frame question about drainage
« on: Aug 06, 2006, 05:51:19 PM »
Has anyone drilled holes in the back lower box frame to help drain dirt and for cleaning purposes? My current project has enough sand in it to fill a sand box and would like to be able to get it to drain out and get more air through it for rot prevention any one got any pics or ideas? obviously I don't want to ruin the frame structurally. :help:

I would almost drill a 1 inch holes than reinforce the hole with a piece of plate to stiffen up the area around the hole. I have had 3 trucks and the frames all  rotted out in the same places ( behind the gas tank, below the spring mounting point Lower) Pics anyone?

i drilled a 1/2 inch hole in the frame  just behind the front spring shackles  and  infront of the rear spring hangers,  but you got to wash the frame out  after it gets dirty or it aint gonna help
