hollowing out cats

how do you hollow out a cat and what do you do ive herd of it but never had it explained to me
give me some duct tape some zip ties a welder and a tourch and ill do some tinkerin

cut it open, cut out the innards then weld it back togeather

ahhh i see does it help with any thing power? sounds like a long process if there is no good out come

if you dont have smog laws your better off just removing it and running a header 2.25 all the way with a quality muffler you can also do the same thing but add a hi flow cat those are going to give you the best results the main reason people hogg out there cats is to get around smog laws and visual inspections because when looking at it, it still looks like there is a cat there

got ya i cut mine off the other day and lost a butt load of power and now stuck trying to find out how to get the power back and maby add a lil more

If you have a 22r try to richen your fuel mixture.  Now that the engine is breathing better it needs more fuel.

easiest way would be just put some exlax in their kibble :yikes:

Not a good Idea   The stuff inside is toxic.  Just put in a "Test Pipe" and see if you get the results you want.

hahaah no worrys im just going to put my cat back on i went out in the woods and i found out i lost all my low end out of my truck soo im just going to put the cat back on and get a flowmaster 40 series or somtihng like that and see how she does she has to be better then what it is now thanks for all the help guys and ill let you know how it goes

On my 85 4 banger the cat is hollowed and the exhaust is cut about a foot and half after that. I didnt notice much difference and its way loud. On my 89 v6 the cat is intact and the exhaust is cut the same and it has a nice mellow tone to it not to loud either. If you do hollow it all I did was ram a pipe down through it and break it out. A friend of mine knows a guy who buys the stuff inside to I just sold it to him.
