22re and 22r head the same?
« on: Jul 06, 2006, 03:20:34 PM »
Just got a 85 Runner that is fuel injected but is leaking coolant out the side of the head gasket, good new is that there is no internal or combustion leakage.  I've got a head off of a 85 with out fuel injection that I would like to have surfaced or even milled a little.  Are the two heads the same?  If they are how much can I have them milled and I have heard that you need a spacer type gasket so the pistons won;t hit.  Anybody got any info?

clevite # 223-1699 R and RE.  Of course these are aftermarket, but if they were different from the factory, dana would grind them different.
