Hey 84,

How about central cali? We are going to hit Bald Mountain (Shaver Lake Area / HWY 168) maybe the first weekend of Jan.

Anyone game?

I was thinking about heading up again Mike. One of my buddies said Bald is fun on New Years but I will probably wait for the weekend or even the following weekend. Let me know when you guys are heading up.

Hey 4.3-

You will love that power at bald. The only thing about Bald Mtn. in the snow are two things: Gotta be locked front and rear, and gotta have loads of power.
There are 3 long uphill climbs with average running start room. Marlin's 22MAR engine is showing its age and I had to crawl the second hill at 454:1 way off to the right. Rocky and some others with V6s made it up after a couple WOT runs. It was alot of fun.....................but this was also only about 10-14" deep snow. Right now it is raining and it has been for two days straight. Bald's gotta be under 22+ inches by now.

There is about a 4 mile long service/fire road that you've gotta take before getting to the trail head. And then right at the gate, its an uphill offcamber climb. Last year we made it to the gate, but because it was off camber, each push kept moving us sideways and downwards and it was getting pretty bad. Its steep enough off the right side of the road (side that its banked to) that you could get really really stuck or even on your side.

So I would say that right now it would be a challenge for that first hill. Then its alot of driving around......and around...... some small / short climbs, and then the longest and hardest hill. I doubt we could even make it to that hill yet alone climb it.
But man I wanna try!!

Drove up to Hume Lake this morning, it started snowing at about 4500ft and never stopped all the way up.  I was back down to 4500ft at about 2:00pm and the snow wasn't even thinking about letting up, it was great we had the road to ourselves and the plows hadn't hit above Big Stump.....and the weather guy says there is more to come.

Well I just blew a head gasket in my runner, So I'm out. Don't really know why though, motor only has 7,500 on it and never over heated. I think it's the machine work, they said they had to do some water jacket repair and welded then machined it it out.
