5.0 HO swap questions
« on: Jun 10, 2006, 08:05:37 AM »
im planning on swaping out my 22re for a stock 5.0 ho from a 1989 linclon mark 7 lsc(i have the entire car(((factory 9 in with disks )))). but i have a few questions:

i have heard that the 87,88,89 5.0 ho's from the LSC have bigger heads, bigger fuel injector equaling a boost hp an tq over a standard HO. is this true??

i want to make it an auto and keep my yota tcase so my best options are(correct me if im wrong) aod if i want od, or a c4. when i source the trannys do they need to be a 4x4 model or will a 2wd model from a car work with the addapter from either advanced adapter or northwest offroad?? is a ford c4 worth a damm?

i have a sas planed first so the oil pan clearance should not be a issuse. i read a post on yt about somthing spiecal about the accesory brakets from a lsc, but i could not understand what was meant. can some one explain it alittle better.

their was a few more things but i cant remember what.

thanks for your info in advance

The lincoln ho is just an ho engine.  It might have forged pistons, I can't remember.
I believe that advanced adapters makes an adapter for the AOD/toy case, but its up around $500.  If you have the 9 and have to swap the front, I would just run a 44 and a 205/208.  It will be cheaper in the long run, and alot easier.  The c4 is a better tranny than the AOD, but you won't have od.
Be prepared for a lot of work to stuff the 5.0 in.  At least ford makes the stand alone wiring and a sensor kit.  I would spend the money on that just to make it easier.

I would do a lot more research on this swap, go to pirate4x4 and check it out.  This is no easy swap.  I was looking into this, and discovered that the 3rz is a better option.

That, and the shop isn't very far from my house.  If I can't get the 22re to pull more than 45 up the 4 lane I will wait on the dual case and do the 3rz swap.
