1983 Toyota pickup..

I bought it 12 years ago now and the project is still going. Current status is little odds n ends to make him legal (ref time)

Sports Marlin Crawler dual 23 spline cases, but axles are now front HD HP 44 with hi-steer, rear is a 60 with 9" ends and disk breaks, spool, and 35 spline moser shafts. It has a removable top, flatbed, rear mounted radiator, half doors, etc..

Best part is that purrin High Output Ford 5.0, gotta love power that puts you in the back of your seat with 38" swampers..

Tranny is a NP435 giving me a low of 142:1 with 4:10's in the diffs and 2.28's in the cases.

had to have a custom speedometer cable made with one side to the automter gauge, the other to a speed sensor that adapted to the toy tcase

plasma's are cool..

still need to put a top on the bumper, can't decide metal or aluminim diamondplate. Still workin on the flame scheme too

That rear mounted radiator, how well does it work. Did you simply move the radiotor to the bed and run longer coolant lines to it?

Use expanded or perforated metal :thumb:

works great, hardly need a fan. Stays at whatever thermostat I use..

I used copper lines with hoses at the ends

heres another way to do the lines
i went to school with the local exhaust god. made the job easy. at first i didnt want to use exhaust tubing, then it clicked, antifreeze is an anticorrosive!

it sure works great no matter how much mud gets caked on it it stays cool. soon im either gonna replace the bed or cut the supports out and give it a bit of an angle cause its just a little tricky to fill!!! luckily i have a very steep hill on the side of my lawn that i drive up to fill it. just pull the upper hose and fill away like normal.
hows yours did you have to pull your hose off of the engine to get rid of the impending air lock of did it fill ok?

no, the radiator is where the grill was - so no hood latch either. I have a toyota land cruiser grill I will put in front and then fab something for the sides. Most will be hidden by my bumper with 8274 in it anyway

rad is back up front and I still have issues! Drove it one day and the next it shot to 240 (air in the system) so I'm rippin the motor apart..

if there are any motor guru's here maybe they could recommend what to do with the heads and if I should do anything else, here are the plugs (distributor would be at the top, firewall at the bottom)
