blown headgasket was the right answer ;)

not sure why the blue looks so "baby blue" but it is ford blue - camera makes it look lighter.

Got it just about all back together, just gotta refab a new exhaust system!

I used arp head studs instead of bolts

my helper finishing up..

beyond close, the steering box is spaced out 1.5" from the frame in that pic :(

Exploring other options like different steering boxes. The IFS one doesn't work because it hits the power steering pump on the 5.0

gettin there..  Fired it up finally - exhaust is just tacked together right now so it sounded like a hot rod :)

exhuast made from mandrel bends.. butt welded together

FINALLY figured out the proper use of a full Bud Light can (they were given to me for some work I did, never could figure out what they were for)

tight fit! I am touching brake, fuel, AND clutch lines so I gotta do some re-routing :(

Went back to a toyota box, adapted to my AN hose for the high side and a brass fitting for the low side.

The arm is temporary, I got a real one in the mail (Gotta get the nut n washer from the dealer still)

I don't know what caused it but the nut on the top of my power steering box backed off and it shot all my fluid out. Then because of manual steering I stripped the splines on my steering wheel (patched with some aluminum foil). Engine ran great, I won't be doing a whole lot before my next trip. It was nice to fly up the hills at 70-80 mph getting to the trail  :driving:

current project is new half doors. You can see in the other pics that I have made doors in the past but I wanted to try something different.. sort of..

making "inserts" like broncos that I will run

and then I am going to make some half doors to slip in for when the wife is with me or for longer trips etc.. I got it all figured out just need... time :)

building stuff yourself can always save money but with the prices of steel you might as well just say screw it..... Sometimes youd be better off just buying it built... :dunno:   :_oops:

door inserts in progress..

Got Johnny Joints and greasable shackles ready to go on too..

BTW I did check with Chris first to see if marlin carried the Johnny Joints but I am VERY impressed with the AP setup, shackles and all. It will be the first AP thing on my truck but like I said, I am very impressed with it all.
