Cam compatability
« on: Jun 06, 2006, 10:55:23 AM »
A friend and I just swapped the head out on his 87 22RE motor. He had it decked 5 thou, new valves, valve job, etc.
We found a slight chip out of the side of one of the stock cam lobes, and another friend sold him a cam from his 22R carbed motor. Here's a link to a pic of the card that came with the new cam...is this cam alright for this engine?

R and RE engines use the same cam; you'll be fine.

22R and 22RE use the same stock cam...yeah, but this is a mid-range or broad-range aftermarket cam, pulled from a 22R motor and put in a 22RE. Will that make a difference?
Just being careful, wondering if the bigger cam will be bad for his injected motor.

nah, run it!! :gap: really though, you'll be fine as long as it isn't too radical.  Maybe a little low on vacuum though.
