Water?

This may seem elementary, but what is the water situation on the Rubicon? I'm getting my truck ready for MCR5 and it hit me...I've never had to cross water in my truck, so my intake is straight off the t-body. How much and how deep...what do I need to prepare my truck for?
Thanks!
Mark

No water crossings to speak of, except at the springs and there is a bridge.

Cool! 'cause water is NOT a concern here. In fact, if your in water...bad things are probably coming your way!

Cool...I mean I have only gone through a puddle and that was in my old Runner. No water experience at all!

I wouldn't consider water to my hubs much of a water crossing unless it was a fast moving current.

One must cross the Rubicon River if they wish to camp in the "Dirty Dozens" camp ground. The key is to stay slightly to the right because it gets really really deep on the left side of the crossing.

I have seen it get to deep there that water was pushing up and over Marlin's hood, and in through both the doors and the shifter holes. And this year shouldn't be an exception to that. I would love to see how much water there is!!

Also, the Rubicon River has some KILLER swiming spots, so be sure to bring some swimming gear and relax in the cool water!! :beerchug:

I forgot to mention that the "Dirty Dozens" camp ground is not a required camping spot and is entirely optional. One you pass the springs, the trail continues through the valley and soon runs along side the Rubicon River, on its right-hand side, for about half a mile or so. It is at that spot that you can see a left turn that just goes straight into the river. On the other side is the camp ground.

It is cool because when the river is really high, I have walked into the camp ground by foot, and all you see are nothing but 40+" equipped rigs. 8)

Last year on the Jeepers Jamboree, the water level at the bottom of Big Sluice was well over the hubs.  Not sure if that has a "overflow" on it or if the water just gets deeper with more snow melt / run off.
It's built Chevy tough with Toyota stuff!

Ramrod

here is the dirty dozens water crossing they speak of.  I crossed first not knowing how deep it was and was kinda scared.  that jeep has 44" tires and that is july

Matty

dang, how high did the water come up to on your truck??

BigMike

Nice pic man

In that picture, those rigs are leaving the camp ground, so the deep spot that I spoke of is to the left of the camera man, hence everyone is turning a wide RH sweeper

yep leaving the campground, the water was just level with the floor of my truck and felt nice to put my arm in it as I drove through cuz my doors were off
