Just introducing myself. My name is Clint. I'm a mechanical engineering graduate student at Cal Poly, SLO (Central Coast of CA).

This is me in my '86 4Runner

Some specs on my truck:TrailDisaster IFS, 5.29s and Detroit out back, 63" Chevy springs, square tube sliders, rectangular rear bumper w/ swingdown HiLift carrier, 22RE w/ engine builder head and cam, Kayline softtop.

There's nothing Marlin on my truck, but that will change when I graduate and can afford a few things! I'm keeping my fingers crossed there will be a cast version of the clocked t-case adaptor (to make it more affordable), but if it doesn't show up I will just have to cut some floorboard and go w/ the regular MC07. I have always respected Marlin's innovation and famous dedication to Toyota wheelers of all backgrounds. I truly hope to support him and the future of his business.

My claim to fame is a hydraulic tube bender I have been building as my Cal Poly senior project. Here's a screenshot of the design. I have hundred of pictures and video of the buildup on my personal website, here http://www.extremefabricator.com/BB/viewtopic.php?t=8

This forum looks like a great place to hang out. I just hope I'm not epilleptic: there are SO MANY animated emoticons! One for every occasion.

I do have one question. What are "turtle points" and why do I have negative one?

The turtle points are just for people to rate you with and it seems someone is already jellous of your bender project.

Very nice bender you have yourself there. I just read over most of your project thread and it was very interesting. I am surprised someone never came up with it before. When you get some tube work done with it, post it up so we can havea look-see.

By the way, nice runner too

:welcome: Clint, I gave you a turtle point just because  I think you will find a lot of us have many hundred negative turtle points, there was a day that we turtle hunted, and the evil turtles were wreaking havoc on us!
What ever happened to turtle hunting? :turtle:

Hey Clint glad you made it over here and congrats on the bender, ITS ALIVE!!!!! just amazing work and energy you put into it that has paid off. Did you get the pressure relief problem cured? I think I'll try using my Bend Tech software next time I fab up fluid lines, what kind of springback were you getting on the hard hydraulic lines  :talkingn: Would like to see you make the Roundup this year

The turtle points were just a fun game here on the board.  And the turtle hunting too.  :yesnod:  I just gave you another one cuz nobody should take a point from a board newbie  :nonono:  and I like your project.

A new Era has been ushered in MrsWM.  The great and Evil Turtles could not survive the passing of the new moon, and we "Turtle Hunters" are a dying breed.    There are not many of us left now.

Thanks! I think maybe someone was upset over me posting about Trail Gear a while back. Definitely a soar subject for many on both sides.

Thanks! I can't take credit for the twin cylinder concept, since there are similar machines on the market (search the net for RMD150 or Jancy), but I did design every piece of this bender myself. Thanks for the kind words!

Haha... thanks for the points! I am so confused about the turtle hunting thing - I can't tell if you guys are kidding around or if there's some truth to this.

Thanks KYOTA! Very kind of you. So far I haven't had any issues with the bender, but I have only made a half dozen or so bends. The relief valve wasn't much of an issue; it just came adjusted low from the factory. It only took a minute to remove a cap and tighten the adjustment for higher pressure. But it is true the required bending torque was more than I had calculated. Even now I am still weeding through my old calculations to see how this will affect my stress and fatigue calculations (and overall capacity).

I don't know anything about the Roundup. Where and when is it?

Thanks! Is there a thread describing how the game was organized?

I posted some pictures on another thread about my bender and I may as well post 'em here to! Plus there's a picture of me, so you can use MSPaint to put mustaches on me or print it out for throwing darts at.

Getting frustrated with it mainly. I'm looking for a forum where people are more polite. Some of the folks over there haven't been too nice.

I wish I could afford to do the things I would like to my truck, but for now I am still recovering from my last big project and I have to focus on finishing school.

Right on, you'll fit right in.
