Driveline noises. posible vibration??
« on: May 10, 2006, 06:56:04 PM »
All new stuff installed. on a 90 V6
-marlin duals (rebuilt by marlin)
- fror crossmember tipped up slightly
- had the PO's driveshaft shortened it has 1030 ujoints
No noises untill 3rd gear and up. But only when the vechical is in gear and you let off the gas. Basicly when the engine has no load (i think its called rev-matching?) It almost sounds like the grinding of gears.

I measured my driveshaft/ pinion angle its really bad about 15* So I am going to start there buy relocating the purches.

Any ideas? thanks.:punish:

what kind of shafts ??  just stock yota's

the main thing what ever they are make sure they are in phase,  the splines  cant be 1 spline off or they will vibrate at less than 15*
just make sure the yokes are parallel  or square with each other,  if they didnt do this correct when it was shortened  then thats your problem

I had the exact saem problem, it was the drive shaft angle. My U-joints never bound on me, but eventually the noise got worse and progressed into the lower gears as well. I'd drive it as little as possible until you get it fixed
