Hi to everyone,
Now before I get kicked in the teeth and flamed like a big whopper,  liked I did on a certain other 4x4 off-road website do you guys accept trucks that dont go off-road often ?

Cos if ya do then I'll just leave now and save ya the time

Surely if the RED WHITE AND BLUE,  on both sides of the pond can fight together, then surely a little forum help cant be a bad thing can it ?

:welcome: to the board. Some people don't even have a 4x4 here, though most want one. You did say often, which means it does see the dirt every now and then even if it's only a couple times a year. Even still it's not a requirement, knowledge is our purpose. If you want to build a curb hopping mall cruiser we will help you build the slowest curb crawler in the world.

Thank you Rock surfer that was just the kind of welcome I needed.     I made the mistake of registering with Pirate and posting one question and got flamed so bad you would of thought I had been born on the Sun !     I appreciate what you guys build and I can see the engineering that goes into them.    My truck is mostly built for advertising, we have some local companies who sponsor us to turn up to to draw attention to  monster sales or monster opening offers so the lure of money and of course  :ladys-man: is quite high. I do appreciate it handles like a pig and runs the risk of going over but if I dont abuse it,  I can keep the risk minimised.   I do have some questions to ask so long as I dont get burned  :beerchug: along the way

Before you all start condeming the life of the wheel bearings I know they wont last very long but with the money coming in it is not a hardship to replace them often

Hi all, the rims are 20" high by 14" wide (the bearing killer) the truck will be used for earning money but she will get a baptism of mud pretty soon, im not daft enough to try and climb with it, standing it on a soda can would flip it over :gap: but it does attract :boobs: which is a bonus
Thanks for the welcome :beerchug:

I don't think it's that high, maybe a little for my fancy but there are people around here at that elevation and wheel the hell out of 'em.

:dunno: Honestly, I like the other one better. Just a personal preference thing. I guess I'm just not into evil and death and dead things. To each his own though!  :beerchug: Cheers, mate!

EDIT: I think it would look better w/o the lettering on the second one (night time). makes it look a little cheesy  :cheese:

Wow Badger, that is a pretty cool looking truck. You shouldn't have any problems on this board with getting flamed, that is not the type of attitude we want here on the Marlin board.
If you have a problem with anyone giving you a hard time please let one of the mods of the board you are posting on know, that's what we're here for.
Other then that, ENJOY and :welcome: to Marlin Land! A big truck like that is not at all uncommon here in FL, the land of mud, sand and swamps.

I like the second one best also (without the lettering). Around here most of the Mall Queens are full size trucks. Looks good. I'd agree that it doesn't look like it's super high and unstable. Sweet tow rig. What model Chev?

Wow, now that is pretty cool!! For now the newb thread is as good a place as any I guess.
Although the Rig Gallery is a good place for showing off your stuff and moving out of the Newb board.
Are the first pics the before, and the second the after?
Or the first pics what you have now, and the second what it's going to eventually look like?

The rough pics  are what she looked like when we found her in a field. She had been stood up 4 years earlier when the brakes had failed, the later pics are what she looks like now. She is a Canadian Gun Tractor from world war II or her proper title is a CGT FAT or  Chevrolet Gun Tractor Fied Artillery Tractor.  The Canadain flag is obvious why it is there but I put the Stars and Stripes proudly on her the  weekend following September 11th  :usa: We were heading out to a big show that weekend and I felt it only right to show it and that we will NEVER be beaten just as my Avatar stands proud !

Check out our build when you get a sec. (or many secs!) You might be able to give MrW some ideas for the Mammoth's diesel engine.

What part of the diesel engine aspect are you having trouble with mrs Mammoth ? :_order:
A five year old child could understand how to do this !!   Somebody send out for five year old child !    :usa:

finding one that suits our needs and size.
We have the SD22 2.2 liter Nissan diesel engine in it now, I believe Mark is going to be looking at putting a turbo on it, to see if that helps.
We need more low end power to get up to speed on the highway faster, and get a slightly higher highway speed as well. Now it's all it can do to get out of it's own way doing about 60mph with a tailwind downhill.
Then I believe he is going to look at getting the TD27, 2.7 liter, which is already turbo charged.
if you go to the last pages of our build you can see he tried putting a supercharger on it. It worked at high revs but nothing in the low end.

Hi Mrs Mammoth, here in the UK we have the Nissan Patrol,  you may have it over there but with a different name,  the ones we have are 3.0 and 4.0 td  :_order: just tap it in  and hang on,   what does it matter if you have to sit in the back   :gap:
