...why buy when you can build?
should I replace the oil pump? or just reuse it? oil pressure was still good last time i drove it...
...................... and the only place I can hear it is when the end of the scope is on the timing marks on the oil pump housing. weird I know. ................TIAPZ
make sure that dang balancer shield is on all the way, and make sure the oil pump drive gear on the crank and timing gear are the right ones,
Also, is the shield bent? Why is it rubbing? Make sure the crank does not move in and out or this could be why it was rubbing. If it does, you know the thrust washers are bad.
So the stethoscope was pointing right to the problem area but no one thought of the balancer..... Next time.
I FIGURED THIS POS OUT!!!! only its to late to save the $300 i just spent on it, and now its gunna be more! The dust shield on the harmonic balancer was rubbing on the oil pump!Freekin SOB! If I would have just pulled the balancer off and looked at it. Oh well, the new timing kit is WAY nicer than the old one. However I broke my timing cover, so now I have to take it back off and replace it!PZ
