Well, it looks as though we have effectively hijacked this post. Sorry, it's almost on topic!
Drugs played a big part in my early guitar playing. That's what I find so sad about SRVs early death...he had just come clean and was playing clean. I'm just an emotional guy. One well placed note can make me blubber all over the place. To me, it's all about tone and phrasing. If I get into another band, I'll be happy (if it's the right line up)...if I don't I'll be cool. No recordings. Mostly "just" local bands. I always made it a point that unless it was a special occasion we never played out more than once a month. Anything more and it just got too much like work. Thanks for the guitar player comment...people always say, Oh, you a musician I answer nope, I'm a guitar player.

Hey, we're talkin music!!!  And I'm talking about my favorite band, too :)

Too bad you don't have any recordings to share :(

I'll let y'all (oh, yeah, I'm Bible Belt South, CSA territory an all that carp) hear some of Big J. Hosphat's stuff when they record their first CD (for which I'm pushing very hard to happen NOW).  I think you, at least, will really enjoy their stuff.  As I said, 5 talented, creative musicians who click and are on the way up fast, in my opinion.  Most of the guys are over 50, but their lead singer is a 31 year old ultimate babe magnet, so the girls will just be going gaga over him, which will certainly help them get out there.  He looks a little bit like that Ace guy on American Idol (not a show I watch, just once this year to see this Ace guy), but much, much better looking and has a gravelly, bassy voice that will get the girls, too.  I know, it's not about looks at all, but if the band was all "old guys" they'd probably never get anywhere other than this city.

Okay, I'm done for now...

Thanks for the reminder, MrsWillyMammoth

I wouldn't know Ace, if he fell on me.

I've never heard of Jackyll, but like all the rest, fer sure (Lou Reed's "Laughter and Loss" CD is too sad for me, mostly, but I LOVE his older stuff).  I think we're musically closer than Bon Jovi illustrates (chick magnet, but too la-di-da for me, mostly)...  isn't there someone in your office who's a Mule fan????  I think maybe if you listened to a little more of their stuff you'd like em better.

KillSwitch Engage
FiveBoltMain (formerly FLAW)

:psss: if no one noticed, LemonCelie is a friend of mine and a huge Mule fan. I had to alert her to another Mule fan.
:_oops: sorry for the gabbyness, those mule fans are very passionate! But I think we should welcome her just the same.
She doesn't drive but she likes to wheel. I'll try to get her to post on the Newbie thread.

Passionate...but not defensive! It's just that we want to share a kickass band with all our friends. Is that so wrong?

Nothing wrong with it, but when your friends disagree you have issues with it, or at least are AGHAST that we don't agree.
I can relate to the feeling, I feel the same when someone tells me that AC/DC is nothing but trash.
I'm not talking POST bon scott, AC DC is the hardest rocking and most ultimate.. FOR THOSE ABOUT TO ROCK... FIRE!!!

Samir: No one in this country can ever pronounce my name right. It's not that hard: Samir Na-gheen-an-a-jar. Nagheenanajar.
Michael Bolton: Yeah, well at least your name isn't Michael Bolton.
Samir: You know there's nothing wrong with that name.
Michael Bolton: There was nothing wrong with it... until I was about 12 years old and that no-talent ass clown became famous and started winning Grammys.
Samir: Hmm... well why don't you just go by Mike instead of Michael?
Michael Bolton: No way. Why should I change? He's the one who sucks
