Child Tax Deduction

my daughter lives with her mom. the mom and i are just boyfriend and girlfriend, we dont live together. can i claim my daughter on my taxes? i do pay for 50% of daycare, however, i pay cash, but can show proof of most of the $ withdrawls every week in the same amount with my bank statements

Jimbo, I'd check the IRS website and/or the Franchise Tax board site.  Either one of those should have the info you seek, or at least a number you can call to get the answers :thumbs:

No Jim you can not claim her.  You have to have the child 51% of the time or more in order to claim.  Indy will claim her and if you do claim her too then it's trouble for both of you :shudder:

Sorry Jim, no chance.  Take it from us, we know.  Only one parent can claim the child even if everything is perfectly 50/50.  You just kind of have to pick which one claims her, and I doubt Indy is going to let you do it and not her.  Can't claim anything against any child support or daycare or anything that you pay, and she doesn't have to claim that stuff either.
