My is just like that one but it is a Carson trailer. I think it was $1650 out the door with trailer, ball, brake control box and 7 pin round plug for the trailer. It is a 16 foot dula axle with single axle brakes. Have not had a problem pulling it with my Suburban. I am going to put D-rings on, the stake mounts suck. But I like it, just need to add air bags and/or get the torsion bar hitch, it brings the back off the Burban down with the truck on it. I have the2 5/16ths ball on it too.

Me personally I'd rather have a 18 footer.I've used both 16 and 18,the 18 pulls way better and with the extra room it's alot easier to balance out the load.Just make sure that when your loaded your not excedding the toungue weight either.Also remeber the GVWR also includes what ever you may have loaded in your towrig,not just what your pulling.

Electric brakes are fine,as long as your wiring is good and you've got good quality brake controller.Surge brakes are good,if you like getting whiplash,especially if your pulling a heavy load.

Not trying to be pushy but just for piece of mind, when I first got my trailer (18'), I had a '00 Chevy x-cab. The added 2' was definately not a hindrance. I could pull it just fine comparing to a similarly loaded 16' trailer. Main thing is, espeacially with the 700-r4/4L60 trannies, when towing, never let it get into overdrive. Lock it in drive and if you're pulling a steep grade and it doesn't want to go to drive even, lock it in 2nd. Don't let the tranny jump, it will die. When you get the new trailer, don't cut corners and get a cheapie controller. Drop the additional coin and get a Prodigy right off the bat. My Dodge came with a Voyager (also made by Tekonsha but lesser model than the Prodigy) and I am constantly having to adjust it depending on the load. Prodigy does it by itself and gives a pretty smooth ride.

I already have a brake controller in my truck.  i don't know what kind it is since it was there when i bought it.  gonna be another $250 for the 18 footer, i will have to think about that.

Thats not my trailer, i borrow it from some friends.  The problem is that i don't want to keep barrowing it.  my truck leaks oil from both diffs and it stains the deck of the trailer.

If theres any way to swing the 18 footer, do it.  You'll be glad in the end.

Good plan to stop borrowing and start owning- you'll stay friends that way!

Plan on fixing the leaky diffs on your truck so you don't stain your new trailer!

I don'y really care about staining the new trailer.  I have tried fixing my diffs 3 times and they still leak.  They got warped when i clearanced my axles.    but i don't have to change my diff fluid anymore

Be sure to check out the welds on things like deck rails, my cousin's husband has a car trailer he uses for jeeps/parts trucks etc..., and it had a front rail on it that he used as a tie down point, till we were loading logs on it, one light tap from a log swinging from the loader bucket knocked the thing off, it was held on by 8-10 TACK welds, it wasn't finish welded at all. The really scary thing was that he'd just had a wagoneer parts truck his buddy bought tied down to the same piece the weekend before.

Well, it would come to like $2200 out the door.  But it has to be special order because of the second axle having brakes.  4-6 weeks before they can get that in.  Why does it take 4-6 weeks to put an axle with brakes under a trailer?  I need it buy the beginning of next month so i can take it othe hammers.  Guess i will only be getting brakes on one axle.

That is silly for that trailer to be a special order. I wouldn't think it would be that big of a deal to get dual brakes. You can't buy a trailer in my state without brakes on both axles. That trailer is gonna set you back quite a bit cash, make sure you don't compromise and get one that you aren't gonna be happy with in the long run. Buy the best one you can afford because you are gonna have it a very long time.

It will work.  I have pulled my toy with a heavier trailer for the past 6 months with only one braking axle.  it works good.

I tow with my 97 GMC 1500 Z71.  it has the 5.7L 350 and tows pretty good.

here's my setup.  its a 16 foot with ramps.  I never use them I just put it in double low and crawl on.  oh and its to bad we can't get wider than 8 feet because as it is I only have 2 inches to spare going through my wheelwells.  14.5 wide tires on 12 inch rims makes for a tight sqeeze.  When the full widths go one I think I'll have to take the offroad tires off and put some donuts on just to get it to fit.

im going to build some angle iron thats about 1/4" above the fenders so when i drive across the tires won't crush the fenders and the weight will rest on the steel I layed down.

My tires squeez against the sides of the fenders now.
