Coils on Toyota Axles?

Who's done Coils on toyota axles, im talking Coil/Shock combo... 14-16"

Anyone?? needing some input and pictures would be great, thanks!

I was chatting with a friend that owns a local 4x fab shop, he was telling me its going to be hard because the axles are so short. Curious who's done it and what kind of work was involved.

if you are worried about just fitting the coils you have a long way to go. and i would stop going to that shop if thats thed first thing they are worried about, the hard part is dealing with link mounts postions, axle seperation, frame seperation, anti-squat all while dealing with mounting everythin on a toyota frame.

The main concern was the area between the coil and the tire, since the tire will tuck up and directly into the fenderwell it may hit the coil.. As far as mounting them and setting up the links... that's not hard.. i've seen them do nice wishbone 3 link systems on many toyotas... most having regular Fox shocks... i have yet to see a coiled rig with Toyota axles... can it be done?  im sure SOMEONE's done it.. or tried it..

I dont have the cash flow to get 60's or I would..

ive seen it done but its TTIIIIIGGHHHTTTT you gotta measure and measure and measure to get the coils to fit just right..  and setting up links is easy peasy..  i run a funky radius arm rear setup on the back of my truck..  took in no account of seperation,triangulation... anything.. just did what i though looked "good"  and i dont have any antisquat till i do 4 grand clutch dump..  otherwise  it doesnt do anything...

If you plan on mounting them inside the frame rails then the shouldn't hit the tire.  but outside the frame rails the tire will hit.  Do you plan on cutting the frame short and then working some tube for the mounts?

Well, I imagine since these guys are doing it to zuki's then it shouldn't be too tough to do it to a toyota. There is a pic of a sammi with Toy axles and coils front and rear towards the bottom of the page. Or mabey you should have just kept that nice zuki you sold!

anyone can do coils... 

i wonder what you'd have to do to stick the coils in the inside of the frame?  sounds like alot of moving.

Probably chop the back of the frame off and tube it but the front's still got me scratching my head.  IronClad do you have any pictures of yours or any that you've seen?

I'd like to see some different front coil mount pic's, curious to see exactly how they're mounted without tire rub.

Check the first gen thread in rig section, forget who but somebody has coils mounted inside the rails on their first gen there.  Looks decent.
