I when to swap the tranny from my beater @$$ 86 carb truck to my 85 efi 4 runner and every thing fit the 86 from th 85 except the shifter I dont care about the86 but the runner needs to work will the 86 carb truck's shifters fit in the 4runners precut factory hole in the floor because i dont wanna mod(sawzaw) the floor of this cherry runner it is pritty sweet

I don't think it will line up man.  Your 86 probably has a g54 and the 85 a w56, which should have the shifters further back.  Can you get underneath both trucks and eyeball how far back the shifters are on both?

yest the shifters are too far back for the 86 truck with the 86 trans, will the 86 shifters fit in the factory 85 floor cut outs i think they should cuz now one around here has an 85 4x4 trans for sale either 79-83 or 86 and up lot of 84-85 pickups here in town, I think i am butchering the floor of the 86 to get the trans in to sell it as a bomber for 600.00 too a cop   I just want to know what is the better transmission cuz i do abuse it alittle not that hard on them though I really like the way the trans. in the 86 felt never really loved the way my friens 84 transmission's felt kinda sucky when down shifting

If the tranny in your 86 truck is a G54, then , in my opinion, the one in your Runner is the better tranny.
