2rz a43d tranny swap to 4wd tranny

looking to swap the a43d 2wd tranny out from behind my 2rz to a 4wd auto tranny preferably a a340f. anyone
have any experience with this or idea if this is possible? lookin to do 4wd conversion and sas on my 97 tacoma

All you need is a 3RZ A340F setup. The blocks take the same bell housing. I bought one from a Tacoma that the guy thought he had to have a 5spd instead, he obviously doesn't know the "One foot on the brake and one on the gas" rule. Getting it to shift automatically will take a harness for that vehicle which is quite a bit more work to incorporate. Definitely not a weekend project, but then again neither is converting a 2wd to 4wd no matter which trans you use.

sweet thats pretty much what i was looking for. :thumbs: i need to switch out my steering column because my current setup is column shift. correct? and integrate the a340f harness to my 2rz?

It's more than integrating in a harness for the trans. more like a complete harness since the ECU will need to communicate with the TCU, and the TCU to the trans. If you had a complete body harness from a automatic truck might be the way to go. Be aware that this is involve and while the trans swap is pretty straight forward getting the auto shifting feature can be involved.
