Topic: What kind of transmission is better ?

I have two transmissions one out of a 1981 longbed and one out of a 1980 short bed truck the one in the 81 is a stick top loader and the one in the 80 is a stick side loader.

Which Trans would you run ? which is better ?

i would try to find a 5 speed out of a 86 r newer truck or 4runner i think its the g series

out of the two options you have go with the top loader i killed 3 side loaders the side loader is known as an L43 the the top loader is an L45 if its a 4 spd and a L50 if its a 5 speed unless some one swapped somthing different in

both of these i believe are 5 speeds.

toyota did not make a side shift 5 speed unless your counting reverse
