Kris SAS build
« on: Dec 12, 2005, 04:22:12 PM »
I got my axel from Glen the other day.  I tore down one side of the axel today and found a problem.  The problem is the king pin bearing gave out and ate the inner race and the leading edge of the housing where the race goes.  I think I can fix it with some emery cloth and smooth it out.  I have no clue what ate the inside of the housing.  It should be OK I think it is no big deal I will sand that smooth and it will be OK.  Any suggestion on how to fix the leading edge would be appreciated.

One last thing.  Where can I get a oil seal retainer.  It is the two peice metal retainer that goes on the back of the knuckle to hold on the gasket.  The one I have is all bent up.

Have not wrote any updates in a while.  I finally got all the parts to build the front end.  I cleaned the housing and cut off all the brackets and painted the parts.  I will take pics later and post them.  I was just about to call and order my sas from Marlin and duty called.  I got orders to go back to Iraq.  So I guess this will be on hold till I get back.

I know it has been a long time for any updates but have been busy doing other things.  I also just found out that I am moving.  I got orders to Japan.  So it looks like The project is on hold.  :( I will have to sell the truck and parts I have because I can't take them to Japan.  :inthedark: SO If any one needs a front axel let me know.  I have it all broke down and have order all new parts for it .  The truck is a 93 3.0 Ext cab, and the axel I think is out of a 83.
