Hmmm, don't understan why some are so pained about searching...I search pirate, marlin, google, everywhere I can find before I post...That's why I start so few threads.
IFS is best kept at ambient temperature in a pile of scrap in the backyard.  When kept under a functioning vehicle, it tends to greatly diminish said vehicle's offroad ability.     -reklund5

Maybe you need to re-read my post, which was a question to start with "does anyone use the search function" and where I said I know this is not pirate.  ::)

derek

I do use the search function at time, but it is usually better to ask the question again because everyone has slighly different circumstances.  I hate reading pages of dialogue to find the one post that applies to my need.

As for the fuctionality of the search engine, I just wish that it wasn't CASE SENSITIVE, that is usually the problem that I have finding old posts.

Look around for awhile before you ask a question.  I get tired of seeing the same stupid questions over and over again its repetitive and redundant. I will give props to those that are guests here, if you'll look at the viewing log you'll see many of them are reading oooooooold threads and they still haven't joined up due to not needing to.  Hell I read this entire forum before I bothered to join up.  I started at the oldest thread and started reading.  Thats the only way to learn.

Last week there were 3 threads asking what size tires will fit with X amount of lift.  One is bad enough but 3??  Gimme a break, Just bolt them on ans wee where they fit!  I'm not your mother I wont hold your hand due to laziness.  I try my damnedest to help when I can but I don't tolerate stupidity.

:headscratch: Search works fine as long as you don't limit it. I just type in the words I'm looking for and scroll. Yeah some words involve a lot of scrolling to find what you want.

Advanced search sucks so badly though.

I don't think when someone starts a thread and posts a question the only repy they get is "SEARCH STUPID"!!, now that is PBB. I've answered the same question several times and never yell at them fro asking the same question that somebody else did.

Actually right now it's working better than ever, Mike did some major updates to it.

Mhm. :yesnod: I was gonna say something along the same lines. Not to toot my own horn, but I ALWAYS use the search button. I find that if you have enough patience, and are specific enough in your searches, that answers come faster than waiting for someone to reply.

I love digging up a thread that is two years old and bringing it back to life... :bananapc: :blah:

I do like how much faster the search feature is with this updated forum, but it seems to return a lot of irreverent results as well. I have done some tinkering with it but for some reason if you search for "day" it will return "today" "yesterday" "friday" "sunday" etc.. It is supposed to only return Whole Words but it's not.... :headscratch: More tinkering required

Search is bad right now.  I tried doing a search for an add I had placed, using the brand of item I was selling and got the "your search isn't specific enough, try using bigger words you frickin moron" response, tried again and got pages and pages of completely off the wall crap that had nothing to do with my search.  Even tried searching with my screen name, and got the same thing.  I dont' think anybody can raz newbs right now till this thing is fixed!  And I know that's driving a couple guys crazy.........er

For those who try to search, kudos to you! There is a difference between pleading effort & ignorance and just being lazy, though.

I've read many a time a noob saying, "Well SORRY that I didn't feel like reading through 8 pages to find the answer." That is just plain laziness. They know the answer has been covered, but it's just "easier" to post a new thread and wait for someone to hand it over to them on a silver platter.

BETTER YET, is when you see they have posted the exact same question not only in other sections in the same board, but in other boards all at the same time! :tantrum:

EVEN BETTER, is when they post up a question thread that has been already covered in the SAME PAGE!!! :maddest: I have seen this before, brand new post entitled "Rears up front question" and 5 posts below another one entitled "rear springs up front?" My favorite is "what gears?" That question is asked AT LEAST once a day. If you just go to the next page you're bound to find it.

I dunno, it just bugs me. :(
