Southern '82 - first SA build
« on: Nov 07, 2005, 03:28:43 PM »
So I recently bought a 1983 shortbed pickup from a local guy. It had a wornout cam...and by worn out, I mean it was a 2-banger. It began looking like this....

Currently I'm in the process of rebuilding the motor to be a 20/22r hybrid. I have crossover steering waiting to go on as well. As soon as it gets running I will look for tires...probably some LTB 34's.

"Break-in" pic and more to come...

Nice, its a great starting point...love those first gens.  If you like the skinny ltb's you might want to look at the Q78's...you can run em with 1-2inches of lift...
IFS is best kept at ambient temperature in a pile of scrap in the backyard.  When kept under a functioning vehicle, it tends to greatly diminish said vehicle's offroad ability.     -reklund5

Nice rig       Truck would look awsome on some LTB's.  They are good tires too, tough as hell.

I will look forward to this build.   Who dosent love the 1st gen.

i wish i could find myself a rust free 1st gen around here.  maybe i'm just too picky, a lot of people say my '79 with rust holes and dents is "super nice looking"

i'm also gonna run the pizza cutters.  haven't decided between Q78s or 34x10.5 LTBs.  maybe try the Q78s, since i'm going to probably do 3" springs + 2" longer shackles(hopefully to get some travel)

Since this won't be a DD I'm not too worried about tire wear. It'll see 1 maybe two trips a month and maybe 1 or 2 days to work on top of that, so anything should last long enough.

I'm going to replace the seat with some buckets, but I'm not sure exactly what the maximum seat dimension is that will fit in the cab, or a good way to measure either...I know Corbeau Baja SS fits and aren't nearly as expensive as MC or Redline and I know they are good seats...just have to see what works

Cranked her up for the first time since I bought it in October  ...dang that was a long time ago.  Till have to finish tuning the carb and the timing advance, but I hope to have it going down the road this weekend.

Does anyone (with a 20r intake) have any or could take some pictures of their throttle linkage. I'm still using the one that was on the weber when it was attached to the 22r intake.

--->Pics to come soon.

I only had what came with the truck while it was running a 22r head. I got a pull-a-part(pick-n-pull...etc ) intake and reman head so I didn't have any extra parts to work with. The only reason I asked is because the setup for the 22r isn't really stable .

So that's what my trim panels look like for now. I'm going to be using one of the tips from the www.thegatts.us site to make another panel to cover those trashed pieces, and who knows I might be able to find a better replacement for the A/C panel that I could actually attach to. I'll be putting a CB possibly the water temp gague I had to install (due to the 20/22r deal and some f'ed wiring by PO :tantrum: )  and maybe a trick switch or two... more pics soon...

Update; NO MORE LEAKS..now if I could figure out why the tranny pops out of R all of the time... :dunno:

how do you like your t100? how many miles do you have on it? what did you pay for it? I've got a 96 that I've had for about 8 months or so and so far it has been a damn good truck. Just wanted to know what you thought of yours? Post some pics of your 82

I think I've solved my dash problem. Thanks though.

I've enjoyed the T100 for all 130k miles and 8 years.
