I was wondering if i could use my stock 85 front drive shaft cv part and then get a rear drive shaft cut it down then weld a long slip kit on it? and be able to use the cv joint?

If your looking to build a rear driveshaft out of your front then all you have to do is have a driveline shop lengthen the front shaft and it will bolt right up in the rear.

If your loking ot make a long slip front shaft just cut the yokes off and make a square shaft its beefer and way cheaper then all that work you were thinikng

Same. Only time it vibrated is when i let off the gas. At 55-60 its good. Little more then usual but thats it.

you can get square tube that fits nice and "snug" into one another, just cut the ends off and weld them to the tubing. Very simple and durable.

yea use a 2x2 1/4" for the outer portion and 1 3/4x1 3/4"  1/4" for the inner slip section.

Make sure it fits nice and somewhat tight.. obviously you dont want to jam it together but in the same sense you dont want slop because slop = death wobble.

The better the fit the happier you'll be when that front DL is spinning like mad.

I wouldn't pack it with grease, just coat the inner slip section with some good sticky grease.

either way will work. Think about it

You have 2.5 on your outer edge -1/4"  for each side (thickness)  and a 2" inner slip that'll fit nice and snug.

2.5 - .25 -.25 = 2

get it?

Or..  2 1/2" - 1/4" - 1/4" = 2" which will be your 2 x 2 in the middle.

we calculated our front shafts to cost around $35-38 completely finished.

Usually we buy it in 20 ft sticks and make a bunch though for spares or to sale.
