hes broke, and trust me, we checked everything.  its either the way the tires are worn, the TREs are a little worn (the are 3 years old), the caster and the toe is off.

ive got a set of 6* shims for him, well do that and re-align the toe and whatnot.  if that doesnt work then i want to dismount each of the front tires and flip them around to try and get the wear pattern different and see if that helps.

He said a little before and then a lot after the trip...

i bet its a bent rim, loose trunnion bearings, or loose wheel bearings IF everything else is tight. Any play in the front will give it a chance to shuffle at higher speeds.

I think he has a bent rim cause when i took his tires and rims to rubicon in october my truck vibrated sooooooooooooooo bad on the way down there. even aj said holy :pokinit: this is bad cause it was pretty bad.

i say pull all the weights off all the old tires then swap the rears to the front.  they may help.  other than that all you can do it start by replacing all the TREs.

dude his rims are destroyed theres no doubt about it. when i had those tires and rims on my truck it wobbled so bad and also hitting a STEEL GUARD RAIL at like 30 mph is not good on the rim.

TRY NEW TIRES AND RIMS AND SEE IF IT SOLVES ANY PROBLEM!!!

honestly with your :pokinit: so far out of wack it probably just worked so *good* for those tires. now that everything is "perfect" thats probably why its so bad is because the rims have got to be so destroyed.
RIP Kyota.... you are the man

lilbuddy

.....whatever im probably wrong but i istill got my money on the tires and rims

and how did you align it? did you use the staple trick or did you take the tires off and actually clamp something to the rotor thats flat and straight (duh) and then do it that way? thats the only way to do it and get a perfectly accurate measurment.
RIP Kyota.... you are the man

Sluice Box Hero

actually the proper way to align a vehicle is to measure from the outside of the rim, but thats not logical unless you have a machine.

what we did was jack up the front and i had kyle spin the tires while i spray painted a stripe down the center of each wheel.  then using a screwdriver i etched a perfect line through the paint while he continued to spin the tire, this gave up a "perfect" line in the center of the tire all the way around.  then we set the truck back on the ground (which is the correct way to align a vehicle, with the weight on the tires) and had him setter the steering, then making sure the tires were straight as we could possibly get them we measured front and rear at half way up the tire.

it started out at 1.25 toed out, and in the end we had it even at 65" front and rear.  ive done several DD trucks this way and every one of them has been near perfect.

im going to make kyle a deal, we pull all the weights off and rotate the tires and if it doesnt help then ill have them rebalanced myself.

Well something is trashed with them because when they were on my 4 runner it was THE MOST UNPLEASANT AND WOBBLY RIDE I HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED!

Dude with your rims and tires on my runner going 55, it was worse then my 40s un balanced going 75 in my tacoma. Im tellingyou dude, something is wrong with those rims and tires.

X2 on the tires and rims. Just having tires that are warn off camber will cause a wobble. If chris was having the same problem with them on his runner then its most likely the cause of the problem. Just try a different set kyle i bet it will be gone.....Process of elimination.

whats it going to hurt by trying new rims and tires?

might as well. since you have done everything under the sun minus trying new wheels and rubbers.... what can it hurt?

Ramrod

just rotate the tires and you might be good

THK Matt

haha might look funny.... but for the sake of argument to see if it is the wheels and tires... try some like 31 stockers on stock wheels and see how it does.

Well kyle hasnt chimed in yet but pretty muich i went over to callens and he was workin on kyles truck and what do you know...

The tire and rim that hit the guard rail, yeah that rim is DESTROYED!

Driving it down the road looks like you ar dribbling a basket ball because the tire bounces off the road. Its so sketchy. The other three arent that great either.... Only one is really actually even decent........

its all good, we got the death wobble to go away, but he does need a new wheel now.  i ended up putting it on the rear.  lilbuddy and i went for a drive and it seriously was bouncing off the ground at about 50.  its almost 1/2" out of round.  the front is solid though.

so

if anyone has a spare wheel, or whatever that he can borrow for a while until he can afford a new one, we need one so we can all go on lil buddies bday run next saturday.
