got to weld the new spring hangers on and the gas tank is in the way.the bed came off to make it easier to do shock mounts and we got to make a crossbrace for the new rear shackle hangers, and get ideas and measurements for my flated i'll make next year

iT IS A TOTAL OF 18 BOLTS AND APRX. 25 MINUTES OF WORK TO TEAR OFF THE BED AND TANK OFF . IN MY OPINON ITS THE BEST WAY TO WORK ON THE REAR SUSPENSION, NO CRAWLING AROUND AND NOT MUCH OVER HEAD WELDING. PLUS SOMEBODY (HINT HINT 1SLOYOTA) HACKED THE FRAME OFF AT THE SHACKLES AND I NEED TO BUILD IT OUT TWO INCHES SO I CAN MOUNT THE NEW HANGERS. ALL IN ALL IT JUST MAKES LIFE EASIER.

NOW FOR MY TECH AND TWO CENTS:

MARLINS ADAPTER IS SLIPPING IN QUALITY. FOR A MAJOR REASON. ONE I HAD TO DREMEL OUT THE CASTING TO GET A WRENCH ON THE PASSANGERS SIDE MIDDLE BOLT  :headscratch:  ALSO I BELIEVE THAT THE OLDER ADAPTERS WERE JUST A BETTER MADE PIECE.

MARLINS CROSS MEMBER IS OK IT GETS THE JOB DONE. HOWEVER I WOULD NEVER TRADE IT FOR MY BUD BUILT. THE CUTS WERE UN CLEAN. THE LARGE ROUND BOLT HEADS FOR THE T CASE MOUNTS SAT LOWER THEN THE CROSS MEMBER :headscratch: IN THE END ITS JUST A ROUGH PIECE NOT WHAT I HAVE COME TO EXPECT FROM MARLIN.

I LIKE MARLINS COMPANY ALWAYS HAVE. THEY MAKE GRAET PRODUCTS, I AM GLAD MARLIN DECIDE TO NOT SELL OUT. I THINK THEY WERE GROWING TO FAST AND NOT PUTTING THE FINISHING TOUCHES ON THINGS LIKE THEY USED TO.

Thats what happened with my buddies skidplate also.  I gave him one of my spacers and bolt set from my Sky-Manufacturing crossmeber and that fixed the problem.  It made the round piece flush with the bottom of the plate.  the build-up is looking good.

new beefy rear crossmember

The rain here in Petaluma is not letting up. so things have slowed a bit plus we are waitning on parts. The third member should be back tommorow and then i can bolt back all the rear axle stuff and get it back on tires however Marlin still has not sent us the drain plugs (its been 3 months) so i am going to go to handle that tommorrow. so by tuesday it will be back on wheels and ready for a driveshaft. these 84 -85 front driveshafts are getting harder to find. so with all that said evrything will be ready by the end off the week hope that !sloyota can find a driveshaft for me?  :crossed:

Where are you getting your rear driveshaft done?  I took mine to driveline service of santarosa and they put a cv on and thicker tube in like 2 hours for $90

sloyota

got her rolling.need to swap the shocks to 12" and get a ARB air compresser for the front locker and make a square front driveshaft.other than i could not be happier with the work CTF Offroad did.Hope by summer to have the front cab exo caged, then work on the flatbed. My crawlbox keeps popping out of gear while driving down the street,so it's got a bungge cord around..I'll get some better photos

Heavy Duty Shift Spring

Is your transfer case popping out of gear on the trail? This heavy duty spring will reduce or eliminate this pesky problem. Easy to install from outside without disassembly. Use one spring for crawl box, two springs for rear transfer case.

sloyota

the front diff is already brokin in.the rear i'm doing on the street

whiteman

I was told that with a brand new set of gears you are supposed to break them in in 25 mile increments letting them fully cool between each, and once you have reached 100 you do each 100 miles until you reach 500 and then your done but are recommended to change the oil every 1500 miles.

Sounds a little over secure to me. :dunno:
