sounds like it'll be a nice buildup.
why single case?  different but cool.

I know several people who have run Detroits in the rear and were unhappy with them.  Fronts apps. Rock though. good luck
that being said I have a Detroit Locker w/bearings that I MIGHT sell.  for a 4cyl, 8".. pm if interested.

awesome rig man. keep us posted
I'm going yota JUST so I can buy from Marlin more.

*quote*-  goes to show that a ramp hero doesn't always have what it takes to be a trail hero as well.

Hyena

I took my rear detriot out and put it in the front.  It lasted about 5 trips before i broke a stock inner which took out the detriot.  I didn't like it in the rear becasue it kept bopping, scared the crap outa me.  Mine was old though, worn out.  It should work good for you in the rear.  I wouldn't put one in the front unless you have a bullit proof front axle.  You build-up should be good to watch.  Start er up!

Hyena

Sweet, get on it and take lots of pictures.  ARB is a way better choice for the front then the detriot.

sloyota

also picked up marlin's new 6 bolt steering arm's..beefy..I'll just upgrade to 6 stud knuckles when marlin puts them into production...and now the fun begins

Yup everything is going as planned. The front axle was a steal. Its all torn down and cleaned up. Tommorrow we are going to clean up the housing and weld on his gusset.  Going to start torching Saturday or sundya hopefully. For the tech is been preety much the usuall tear down. Here in CA the dreaded cone washers are a breeze. The stock wheel studs are a bit shorter then i would like. I am going to loc tite them and check them shortly after we get the truck rolling and if there unsatisfactory then i will change them to longer ones.

IFS is best kept at ambient temperature in a pile of scrap in the backyard.  When kept under a functioning vehicle, it tends to greatly diminish said vehicle's offroad ability.     -reklund5

OK so far the build is going well. We have started on the front and are working to the rear. This is alot more then justa SAS you guys will see as it progress. I started at 9 am friday and by 6 pm all the ifs and brakets were history. I decided to unbolt the sub frame as one whole because 1sloyota had a 4 inch lift and wants to try and sell it.  :crossed:  Anyways i like this approach alot better then just torching and letting it fall to the ground. I was able to get a closser torch which in turn resulted in less grinding. I have downstairs tenants that share the same wall as my shop/garage so noise is a factor in some cases so i bolted the axle in place so i can wheel it outside to grind the frame which brings the noise level to a normal volume.  :beerchug:  So yes tonight in Petaluma Ca its raining so no grinding tonight, got a little done more to come tommorrow. All in all Marlins products are decent. The 4 inch springs look killer and i like the heigth. I think 1sloyota was expecting them to be a little taller:) BUt there just right. Welll heres some pics for tonight till next time

CTF off road

In order pic one

Marlins Six bolt knuckles had to grind the brake backing plate so they would clear :headscratch:

CRS

HA ha I am famous.

on the tech side of things Marlins 4 inch springs look killer and seem to be flexy, however I dont think the 14 inch bilsteins are the right shock for them. I played around with the mounting for a while and still could not find a spot that would give me any more then 4 inches of shaft when the axle takes the sprung weight. I am thinking that the 12" would be better for the front. these springs wil settle too and this worries me a bit. guess the droop will out number the stuff and thats ok by me. We will see soon. This weekend we start the rear.
