Couple Dual Case questions
« on: Oct 02, 2005, 07:37:01 PM »
Hey guys,

I know this is a dumb question to a lot of you but here it goes.

I am fixin to order a cluth kit, dual case adapter, speedo extension, heavy duty shift springs,  and a dual case skid plate.

I want to make sure I do this right and not have to do this again...............

1.  Am I correct in guessing that I need 4 of the heavy duty shift springs?

2.  When I go online to order my dual case adapter(MC 07), it asks if I want a 21 or 23 spline.  I already have a 4.7 case that I ordered from MC  :turtle: about 2 years ago and I would assume that it came with a 21 spline input shaft.  Do I need a 21 spline or 23 spline when I order my MC07?

3.  Also, I understand the directions that if I already have a 4.7 case, I need to put it in the back due to the torque involved in dual cases.  Is this correct??

4.  Anything else you guys can think I might need..........besides a clue??   :smack:

Thanks guys.

1. nope you need 3 total, for the front case shifter and 2 for the rear.

2.  21 spline to go behind your W56.

3.  Yes use it as the rear case.

4.  Myself Id suggest the twin stick shifter too.  I love that damned thing!

Huh????   See, I must be dumb.  I cant see why you would need a second tcase mount with a dual case skid.
 :slap:

WT, you say yours is chained down. Will it be fine with just the dual skid or do I NEED to chain or secure it down somehow?  I have never heard of such a deal.

If you dont chain it down you'll break your exhaust and rip the driverside mount apart.  (this is experience talking) :gap:

With the Marlin mount it has a second mount location built into it so its simple to add another mount for increased strength.  Id still chain the motormount down either way. ;)

Myself Id either make my own crossmember or go with a flat budbilt but if your not lifting the setup marlins is just fine for you.

Yeah, I had thought about goin flat belly but I dont know if I have the time to mess with it.

It seems like a lot of work but I know it would be well worth it.

We will see what happens I guess.  We are plannin a big trip to Colorado in August of "06 but I am working 7/13's and there is not much light at the end of the tunnel for this ending.  I may be lucky enough to get done with this crap in time to do something like that but not sure at this time.
