4runner brakes...
« on: Sep 26, 2005, 04:56:17 PM »
Ok so on my 1994 4runner I had noticed about a month ago what I thought was a warped rotor. Did nothing about it, it kind of went way. Noticed brake dust on my car for the first time. Lots of brake dust on the left rim almost none on my right. I had to lock up my brakes and slide going 50mph to avoid getting into an accident. Now my brakes feel surge-like. It steers when I brake without my hand on the wheel. My brakes aren't workin very well right now and haven't for some time. What do I need to fix?

Well before I had to lock them up it went to the left, but on the way home it felt like it wanted to go to the right. And I cant take the wheels off right now because I loaned out my jack...

you need to pull the front wheels off and see if theres any material left on the pads,  it sounds like probably one side had went metal to metal,  and is detroying a rotor

is the rear disc brakes or drum ??

Could need new brakes.  Could need the calipers to be rebuilt.  Could be a plugged up brake line.  How is the brake fluid level?  When did you last check it?
