I noticed a huge diffrence in fuel econemy when i pulled my air adjustment screw (or whatever its called) and cleaned it all out on my intake.. The screw was all gummed up and so were all the pasagges and hole where the screw went in... Spent about 45 min cleaning that out... But i have noticed the increase in fuel econemy. I travel the same distance everyday back and forth to work and right now im about 1/4 tank higher than im usually at at this time...

I read about cleaning the EFI plentum about how it impoves throttle responce as well as hp,tq and milage... but haven't gotten arround to it... though I just replaced the radiator on my truck and so when I took off the intake I opened the butterfly valve and used a light to look in... DAMN that sh*t is coated with black crap!... I'd imagine it would make a HUGE diffrence... at least in throttle responce!...

1980 longbed 4x4
20r, swaped L50 5 speed
STOCK 190 cfm 20r carb, freshly rebuilt
4.37 gears
2" lift
31" muds on stock wheels -calculations not adjusted for tire size, but the difference can't be too much for 31s.
Header of unknown origin
stock exhaust with thrush glasspack
winch on a fairly light tube bumper, 2" square tube sliders (kinda heavy) and probably 100-200 lbs of whatever I happen to be carrying that day...

On a town or wheeling tank I will get 15-17 mpg.  Same if I have to go 80 mph or buck a hard head wind.  On a good highway trip, 70 mph, I can get up to 22 mpg.  On most tanks of mixed driving I get 18-20 mpg.

One weird thing though, If I'm all loaded with camping gear or hauling wood, say like 1000 lbs of cargo, I still get the same milage.  Figure that one out...

I tried Nology hotwires on a Celica and definately picked up a few mpg but they only lasted about 25K miles.  The cost to benefit ratio is pretty tight unless they can get them to last longer.  Probably it was worth it but in my opinion they should last longer at $200...

87 std cab long bed
22r all stock except a doug thorley header, flowmaster muffler
5 speed
4" lift with stock 4.10 gears with 33x12.5s
i do have a tube front bumper and a light bar, so that adds weight
i used to get around 18 WITHOUT compensating for the bigger tires, so it was probably around 20.
but for some reason im getting like 16 all of the sudden :headscratch: any suggestions?

1983 shortbed 4x4
Rebuilt 22R w/ about 20,000 miles
Stock rebuilt carb
Stock gears
30x9.50 all terrains
5-speed
EGR plugged

About 14mpg town, 17-20mpg highway. Doesn't seem to matter too much if I'm going 60mph or 75.
