Lets see your MP3 stats!
« on: Sep 20, 2005, 01:17:46 AM »
Hey guys,

I was bored today so I decided to see how many MP3s I have on my system. I've got a 120 gig HD and a 40gig HD...

Between my two harddrives, I've got 8,273 MP3 Files.

I've tried to get a total on the size of all of them, but it's too many. I'll have to add up smaller quanities to get the total..

WinAmp is reporting 542 Hours 11 mins and 29secs of Audio.

So the average length of each file is 471 seconds, or 7.8 Mins. (I've got multiple complete jazz album wraps)

The majority of my music comes from http://www.shoutcast.com, as I use Station Ripper to download and save live streaming audio. I have a ton of music from my favoirte servers at Soma FM, including Secret Agent, Beat Blender, and Groove Salad.

Since my PC is on 24/7, I usually tune into a station using Station Ripper, and while I am gone, my computer is saving streaming audio to MP3 files. Then I'll come back home and check out the new tunes :wakos:

I've got about 3,000 files in my Station Ripper directory, 1,200 files don't count really as they are from a video game (MS Age Of Empires), I've got about 800 Jazz files, about 400 Piano files, probably 1000 techno files, lot's of rock (classic and progressive) and alternative music, and then about 1000 other songs...

So watcha got?

I'm trying to make it sound like I'm not stealing much because most of my stuff is from the internet radio anyways (streamed) so it's public so I can copy it as much as I like..

But I know there are some out there who will make my collection look like childs play, like FIREBALL. I bet he has over 15,000 files.

I have to say, all my songs are ripped from CD's that I own.
I used to download a lot, but I was using Grokster and had issues with the spyware & other crap it drops in your system.

I currently have 22.3 gigs, 4372 mp3s on my computer.  About 95-98% was ripped from CDs I actually owned.   Winamp shows 285:03:33 as playlist time.

EDIT: Most of these are either 160 or 192kbps sample rate.

15.7 gigs
5059 files
About 80% cd, the rest from Limewire. (pay'd membership)

Not quite what BigMike thought I had, but still a pretty good selection.
By the way, if you asked for a song or artist at MCR4 that I didn't have and you remember who it was, let me know so I can keep my selection diverse.

My main SATA drive was full, 65 out of 80 gigs was all music I had been collecting for the past four years. I lost it all about a month ago when my drive died!!!! :yikes:

I now have to start all over again. But I was able to save my Dreamtheater collection, Have 14 gigs of just there stuff.

Thats a good start

Had to wait until I finished ripping a C.D.

I haven't downloaded anything off the net, all of the music on my puter is from C.D.'s I already have. Currently there is 221:14:57 hrs., 2803 songs in 352 folders on my hard-drive taking up 18.56 g's, and I put more on every day.

This would be a small fraction of what I have, mostly in storage boxes in my garage. My objective is to load everything into one source and just hit random play........ I may never hear the same song twice when I'm done. All for my personal pleasure of course, all legally purchased.
