Toyota FJ Cruiser
« on: Aug 29, 2005, 07:00:47 PM »
We've all seen it before, but I came across some more pics, so I thought I would share.

Expected to be availabe as a 2007 model with the new 4.0 V6 and 6-speed trans

I can only pray that it has live axles front and rear :crossed: (year right) and I hope this replaces the silly RAV4 :ha_ha:

Also, I miss the flat fenders that are seperate from the hood, and I don't know what that things gonna look like with 37s under it, and three windshield wipers? wow

It's probably built on a Camry drive train.

Hmmm, interesting.   Looks like a cross between a Jeep and a Hummer.  I wouldn't buy it.

Actually, now that I looked at it again.....It looks like a Jeep, a Hummer and a Nissan Xterra had a threesome!

So when does the SAS from Marlin come out for it?

That would have to be for the front and rear.

Heres what little info I've got from our field rep at the dealership:

It's built on a shortened current model (2004+) 4Runner chassis.  This means IFS (    ) a live rear axle with e-lock option, the silly factory X-REAS suspension system (kinda a auto-leveling take-the-fun-out-of-driving) option.  The good thing is that it'll have the 4.0 V6 and an optional 6speed manual.

The interior is supposed to be sorta similar to the current Tacoma.  There might be a factory optional winch.  Standard ABS & VSC & TRAC control.  Big Brother rocks.  The usual power locks/windows/keyless entry and AC.

It'll look cool cruising to the mall, but will be really outta place on the trail.  The Land Cruiser has definitely gotten soft.   :shake:

Toyota needs to pull their heads out of their butts and build something to compete with the rubicon, instead of these dumb ass pavement pounding wannabes. It's really sad that they've taken one of the true icons of four wheelin and turned it into a weak ass yuppie mobile.

I was thinking a jeep liberty and mini cooper.

I really hate to see this sort of thing. Toyota should have stuck with more of the FJ40 style and a removable top. I wish Toyota would compete with the Jeep wrangler and not the Jeep liberty. Its just plan wrong, and very ugly.

Perhaps our only hope is for Scion to build something cool...

So you say you wanna buy a real land cruiser, and you want it to be brand new?  No problem, just take a little trip to australia and pick one up, truck or wagon, take your pick.  Can't really remember if it's an fj90, but it rings a bell.  Do a little google search and see for yourself....

:crossed:

You know, I was REALLY hoping the TC would be a FR (For the lay folk: Front engine - RWD), but they disappointed me.

I keep hearing so many rumors about the MK5 Supra with a NON-turbo V8? Garbage. They need to stick with a smaller displacement I6 and twin charge it.

There's no winch in the above photos.  I thought the cruiser concept had a winch.  I definitely agree: looks most like an H3 to me.

Makes me wonder if I could clutch with the right foot.

Looks like the 3rd gen pickups overseas didn't go ifs until '97.

That's pretty cool.  I've been jealous of the other countries for a long time cause of that, plus did you notice that some of the newer trucks still use a first gen bed?  When you see 90ish double cabs on tv in Iraq, Iran, pretty much any country in that general area check out the bed, it's almost always a first gen bed.
