Thanks. I have had it 21 years. Started out stock with just the v8. Have done 2 body-off rebuilds,1 complete repaint. It's been wheeled, rolled, broken, but has always made it home. Love it, & will never get rid of it.

I really like hearing that. Hang on to that FJ until it crumbles into dust! And then get another! hahaha. Welcome to the forum by the way man. You've probably checked it out, but ih8mud.com has a ton of good info on Land Cruisers. You should check it out if you haven't yet.

4.3's gonna suck in that tank.  They weigh in somewhere around 6500 lbs, i think.

Well I currently have three Cruisers.

The first is my 78 FJ45. I have a 1HD-T turbo diesel that I am planning on putting a 5 speed behind it and a Toybox. I have sprung over 60 series axles with rear full float, but I still have to outboard the front springs. Lots of work to do since the engine needs a rebuild and I need to track down a tranny for it along with clutch and flywheel since the engine was out of an auto.

The second is my 79 BJ40. I have a 12H-T turbo diesel and H55F 5 speed already now I just need to get a Toybox. Once I have that I can do my suspension. The wheel base will be lengthened about a foot because I am 4 linking the rear on coils and 3 linking the front on coil overs. All sitting on 80 series axles. This one won't be done for a while since I have to take it all apart once I am done fabbing and paint/restore it.

I'm building my cruisers to run in tandem for expeditions. I want to be able to do some awesome trails in the places I travel too which a lot of typical expedition vehicles don't because of vehicle limits/weight of gear loaded onto one vehicle.

And then there is my 67 HJ61 which I am parting out nothing special about it I robbed the axles for the 45 and the powertrain for the 40.
78 FJ45 Now going to be 1HD-T on 80 series axles / http://forum.ih8mud.com/fj45-owners-club/107069-fj-45-build-up-restoration.html
79 BJ40 Going to be a 1HD-T on 80 series axles / http://forum.ih8mud.com/40-55-series-tech/266976-bj40-build-up-resto.html#post4143046

Let me start by saying I have always owned Jeeps but had a passion for the Toyota Fj's.  My job relocated me to San Jose so I decided to sell my Jeep to purchase a commuter vehicle.   Last year I was relocated back to Fresno so the hunt was on for another toy that my boy's and I can enjoy.  I happened to come across My 1977 Fj40 with 65,000 original miles that has been sitting for 15 years in a driveway. I harassed the  owner for several months until he finally gave in and sold it to me.  I took a gamble on purchasing it but for the 3200 dollars I thought it was a great deal.  It took several days and a little elbow grease and a some friends but we got it going.

Now that I have had the opportunity to own this Fj I will never wheel a Jeep again..... :)

Marlin Crawler has been really cool,  Definitely military friendly.  I left my toy for them to build.

This is where I started. 1969 fj40 that had been sitting for years. Radiator has holes. Top has no rain gutter and is just tied down. Starter is ready to blow. wiring is bad. Rust to fix. Clutch and Brake master cylinders are shot. Clutch is sticking. Rust to fix. And a list of hidden unknown disasters. I saved it from being parted out. The quest is to get this rig back on the road again.  :burnout:
